With all the displeasure of Linehan so far this season, would you consider taking norv turner back as the OC of the dolphins considering that norv might get fired by the raiders. Just a random thought, probably a dumb one.

Side note Hudson Houck is the coach of the year.

I would.

BTW, wasn't there a quote somewhere when Turner was our OC and he was complaining in the booth during a game that the players at the time were too bad to run his offense?

No more of JJ's cronies

In a heart beat. I think Turner worked well with HH in dallas, right?

Linehan's system hasn't won any championships, and he has had some freakish talent to work with. Norv has come through when he has had the talent.

I think a lot of the things Norv did when he was here was influenced by Fielders weak arm and Wanny over riding his play calls.

Yeah, he was complaining that fielder didn't have the arm strength to throw the deep out routes his system uses.

remember in dallas, Irvin would run a lot of deep outs and skinny posts, Aikman had the arm to hit those.

I would take Chan Galey back and I hated Chan but at least he knew how to use a running game.

Hell yes. I loved the old ''running the ball 30+ times with Ricky'' mentality. We wont see that anymore with Linehan.

I would be inclined to take Norv back, but doubt he'd ever come back...plus I doubt they'd ever bring him back because too many of the players that played under him are still here and may have voiced displeasure about Turner's offense. It's kind of like going swimming with some swim trunks and then you come out of the pool you change and get dry, and hang the trunks up somewhere...but then 15 minutes later someone wants to go back in the pool so you have to put the same wet swim trunks back on. That's what it would feel like to the players if Norv came back here.

Plus, all indications are that Norv always favors a single dynamic tailback to take a lot of workload, get into a rhythm, and dominate the game in the fourth quarter. Everywhere he goes, that is what he's attempted to end up with. Right now we have Ricky and Ronnie, and indications are we may stay that way next year too unless the right offer comes along. I'm not sure Norv is the guy to take advantage of two premier backs.

But overall, I was not unhappy with Norv's offense at all, especially in 2002. He got his nuts stepped on by Dave Wannstedt a ton, and he was never given a QB with the arm to execute his offense. There is little he could have done about that. But he is still one of the best play-callers in the business. The flow of his play-calls is generally pristine.

Norv wasn't bad but I don't see us bringing him back. There has to be a talented OC out there who would fit in nicely with the players we have...even
a college OC....I hope we can get/draft a mobile QB and have an OC who will open the offense up more, not that I mind seeing RB running it for 100+ yards.

Not sure I want a college OC teaming with Nick Saban since Saban isn't as well-versed in offensive theory as he is defensive. He hired Linehan to be his guy on that side of the ball, the guy who took care of everything.

But Linehan has turned out to be too inflexible, IMO. Not to mention sometimes downright idiotic.

just like how he'll find his players, im positive saban will find the right coach for the job as well.

No, Linehan is doing fine, he calls the plays we need players that can execute them properly

Any coordinator who calls two fade patterns in a row into the sun field on goal-to-go in the final minutes of a close game is not "doing fine".

Any coordinator who calls a play-action pass out of a gimmick backfield in the final minutes of a close game is not "doing fine".
