I would be inclined to take Norv back, but doubt he'd ever come back...plus I doubt they'd ever bring him back because too many of the players that played under him are still here and may have voiced displeasure about Turner's offense. It's kind of like going swimming with some swim trunks and then you come out of the pool you change and get dry, and hang the trunks up somewhere...but then 15 minutes later someone wants to go back in the pool so you have to put the same wet swim trunks back on. That's what it would feel like to the players if Norv came back here.
Plus, all indications are that Norv always favors a single dynamic tailback to take a lot of workload, get into a rhythm, and dominate the game in the fourth quarter. Everywhere he goes, that is what he's attempted to end up with. Right now we have Ricky and Ronnie, and indications are we may stay that way next year too unless the right offer comes along. I'm not sure Norv is the guy to take advantage of two premier backs.
But overall, I was not unhappy with Norv's offense at all, especially in 2002. He got his nuts stepped on by Dave Wannstedt a ton, and he was never given a QB with the arm to execute his offense. There is little he could have done about that. But he is still one of the best play-callers in the business. The flow of his play-calls is generally pristine.
