Multiple sources, such as rotoworld, have suggested that Vilma will be cut loose by the saints. There had been talk about a 3-4 hybrid and a switch to a 4-3 Defence. Vilma is an excellent 4
-3 mlb. Should we take a flyer on vilma?

Aging veteran. Only teams that are desparate at LB will take a look at him.

Yes, in a heartbeat.....but ONLY if we went base 4-3. If we stay as a hybrid, no....b/c Vilma isn't big enough to be successful in a 3-4. He needs to be covered by big DTs to allow his incredibly instincts to allow him to flow to the ball.

Love Vilma, but he's getting old.

Rather go after Stephen Tulloch at MLB allowing Dansby to slide out and Misi/Burnett battle if we do go to a 4-3.

Getting old? He'll be 30 this year. That's not too old yet. He has one good contract left in him.

An old Vilma beats a young Koa Misi at MLB.

Vilma has a degenerative knee condition. As a Saints fan I love the guy but he's clearly lost a step. He split time last year with his backup, Jo Lonn Dunbar, because of his knee.

I don't know what some of you guys are talking about, Vilma is still playing pretty damn good as a MLB. Yeah, he's 30. So is Dansby. Burnett isn't far behind.

I'll say this time and time again. If you can upgrade a position, you do it.

Is Vilma an upgrade? Yes.

Therefore, I absolutely would welcome him here.

I thought they had a salary cap to contend with, i would love all of these madden pieces but they won't be able to afford them.

I dont understand why they would switch to a 34 when Spags is now their DC....He is a 43 guy and always has been.. Really makes no sense to go to a "Hyrbrid" all tho under Williams they did play some odd fronts..But as far as Vilma is concerned why not?

Take Vilma on a two year deal in a heart beat because he's better than Misi & he won't cost a lot. We can't go out & sign a young Ray Lewis. Take good players when you can to fill needs & draft to develop.

If his knees are that bad, it does change the conversation a bit, 30 or not. Bad knees are bad knees. But if he checks out medically, i still take him in a heartbeat. He's as instinctive as they come, great leader, smart....perfect guy to put in the middle and flank with Dansby/Burnett and would probably come cheaper than you think, especially returning home to Miami.

This... And that is with the homer blinders off.
