WOW! 2021 Salary Cap Is Going Down. Perhaps Waaayyy Down.

Wilson led the league in RAC his first year with the Dolphins and no other player in the league was anywhere near his stats. You can't deny that, it's history. THAT... IS elite. That is what every coach in the NFL dreams about for slot receiver.

Then, injuries and a salary cut and then the pandemic.

It is what it is......it's the When healthy factor.

You can't be elite when you don't play, thats obvious, but the Dolphins need a slot receiver who can get open on 3rd down for Tua. When healthy......the best guy in the NFL IS Wilson.

I'm sorry but no player that has a career season high for yards at under 600 deserves to be called elite. I can name you 10 better slot receivers without even trying.

The reason his yards after catch were so high is because we had Gase. Mr Bubble Screen himself.
Just ask the Jets fans about his obsession with WR screens.
Obviously when you throw to a guy at the line of scrimmage, ALL of his yards will be YAC

Seems possible. Or maybe guys signing long term deals well below their value and then holding out after one year to get their deals renogtiated. It's definitely going to be one bizzare off season, league wide.
I suppose one way is huge signing bonus, that can be spread over multiple years for the cap, and a minimum first year. Not great for teams flexibility, but one way to keep the number low for next season.

One thing that I'm sure of is, there will be one team that makes several incredibly stupid signings mistakenly thinking that they have just tunred themselves into a contender, and thankfully it will not be the Dolphins.

I don't want high priced F/A, I never said that. But Miami did sign Byron Jones last year when they had lots of cap space. I just pointed out they are not in the same position this year.
I’m glad, would rather draft our way out of this. We will have some space for inexpensive free agent role player

2021 NFL free agency is going to be absolutely insane; I mean totally insane and unimaginable for teams like the Saints and the Eagles and maybe even several others.

The low ceiling is said to be 176 mil. That would be devastating to half the league. The best case scenario is thought to see it drop from 208 to 195.

It is going to make the use of the franchise tag available to only a few teams in the top five in cap roll over. Very good year for the Dolphins to have no high dollar free agents pending.

The cap casualty arena of NFL free agency this year is going to look like a Kansas slaughter house.

There will be more free agents in 2021 than any year in the past and quite probably the future as well.

It is going to be utter madness. The Jaguars will probably be able to completely build a new roster with an elite defense and a top 3 Offensive line for their young QB. They could possibly accomplish the biggest flip in NFL history.

It is an an environment where the Jets or the Dolphins could possibly bring in the biggest draft pick haul in history with a trade down deal.

This will be the wildest off season ever!

The Saints Trey Hendrickson is 2nd in the league in sacks and they have zero chance of retaining him. Trey would be a perfect fit for the Dolphins defense.

Corey Linsley of the Packers is the #1 Center and the Packers have no way to keep him.

Dolphins are in kinda good shape to take advantage of the situation but the bad news is, the evil Jets and the even more hated Patriots may be in even better shape to take advantage.

The possibilities of what could take place this off season are endless. It may be almost as interesting of an off season as this last regular season.

The lowly Texans are already deep in the red, it is almost a sure thing that J.J. Watt is released. Doubt they find a trade partner for a 17 mil contract next season. He could be a bargain?

What do you guys see for possibilities for the Dolphins improvement? And should the Dolphins trade down from the #3 if the deal is big enough?
Is there an article that says what you're stating? I don't see this being reported anywhere. I see the floor is $175 million but they're optimistic it will be closer to $195 million.

I have to imagine the new TV contacts will help reduce the cap drop no? Aren't they looking at 10 years 100B. Should be signed in early this year.
Unless that doesn't impact salaries.

There will be a lot of players likely willing to restructure their contract knowing the grass isn’t greener in free agency after being cut.

It absolutely does, but the new contract starts in 2022. It's negotiated a year in advance.

But they are suppose to be signed soon. I can see them using that to help mitigate the decrease.
I've always been on the side that they aren't going to drop it where it negatively impacts more than half the league. Thats just self imploding the business. Why not use the contract timing to level things out over a couple years. Just seems to make to much sense to me.

I agree. They have to have a viable solution that is acceptable to owners and players alike.

Forcing teams to jettison players over $, will alienate fans, players, and set franchises back years.

It’s interesting...I think that this will be, for lack of better terms, a wealth redistribution in the NFL. There are going to be too many players making good money who will end up being signed by talent-strapped teams with more money. Not necessarily superstars, but quality depth.

Consistency is a must, when you use labels like elite.

Using metrics from 2018, really don't matter in 2021.

With that said. Wilson has a career high of 43 rec. and 4 TDs for a season. Somewhere someone should be able to better those numbers.

Personally I throw a 3rd at the Chiefs for Hardman and see what happens.
