Roy Williams on Joey Harrington said:
''I kept telling you all when he was here, he was not the problem. He's a good quarterback. Give him time he's going to hit the right guy. I keep telling you that,'' Williams said. ``He's a good quarterback. Period. That's it.'

just thought that was interesting considering there were people inside the Lions locker room who blamed Joey for everything. Good to see an old receiver giving him respect like that.

Thats the nicest thing Ive ever heard Roy say. Even though he has made a career out of being wrong

'I promise the fans a 9 game winning streak' They lose

'We were so close to scoring 40 points' After a game they Only scored 6

'No defense in the league can stop us' The next 3 teams shut them down almost totally

This may be the first time Roy is close to be right

I love it!! Good for Joey. You like to see people get up after they are kicked so hard when they are down. Good for Joey.

I could've told you that. Joey is a good QB. It's not his fault they never put him in a positive position. You can draft all the receivers you want, but with no line, running game, or decent offensive strategy/direction you aren't going to accomplish anything no matter who you are.

He just need a new situation. Oh, didn't help that his defense was a bunch of turnstiles and matadors.

I think Roy is one of the good guys in Detroit. He spoke out in favor of Joey towards the end of last season also. Imagine what he could do if he was on a team with a decent o-line and other receivers worth covering?

Wonder if Millen would give us Roy Williams for a 5th too?

Good to hear this from Williams. Shows great class after a defeat. And it will also make Joey feel good coming from an ex-teammate.

Roy has a history with Joey, they played each other in college in the '01 Holiday Bowl and Roy has been impressed with Joey ever since. Not as impressed as he is with himself, mind you, but impressed to a somewhat lesser degree. Roy spent last year defending Joey on the radio when nobody else would. He also admitted that he was the one dropping a lot of those passes and running bad routes. He fell down last year on Thanksgiving and the defender got a pick. Then Mooch pulled Joey like it was his fault that Roy fell down.

Sorry, residual bitterness there. Happy Anniversary, Mooch. Looks like Millen is about to join you in the annual post-Thanksgiving 'Fire the Turkey' event. I wonder who Dre Bly will blame for this firing?

Roy is an OK guy. He stood up for his QB in public when no one else would and he's done the same for Mike Williams. He would be a truly great receiver if he wasn't playing on a team where all the other WRs are cast-offs and never-weres--has-beens would be a big step up for them.

He's been misquoted and misinterpreted and ridiculed for what he didn't mean. He didn't guarantee that win, he said if they executed the way they were supposed to, they would win. All he was doing was showing confidence in their offensive scheme and himself and his fellow players. That's not a bad thing.

Note how people gave him a hard time here for saying he didn't think he could be stopped by single coverage. What was he averaging until they adjusted the coverage? I think it was about 125 yards on five catches for a 25 yard average. Not too shabby.

If the new coaches get a real chance to turn that team around or, failing that, if he gets out of Detroit, he's going to be a great one.

Yeah but when Bly (sp) said those bad things about Joey, no one in the Lions organisation said didly squat to back him up, including the players. Easy to say when he comes back and kills you, he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The Lions stink IMO.
