I don't think you can fire Ireland without firing Philbin. And vice versa.
Ireland has already survived one HC change. So that either eliminates the coach as the problem OR if Ireland is buying the groceries the coach ask for that implies the person hiring the coaches sucks.
In which case, Ross must fire himself.
If Ireland is fired and Philbin is retained, how does that change the locker room? Half time adjustments? Offensive game plans? OL Coach? OC? And that then leaves Philbin as a lame duck implying the new GM is just waiting until Philbin is fired before he implements his own decisions. How does this fix anything? It only convolutes the entire situation.
If you're not firing both, fire neither and let this play out until the entire team revolts.
Stop solving half of the problem. Mr. Ross, if you don't have the balls to make a decision, hire someone to advise you how to sell the team.
