Hey folks,
LOOOOOOONG time no talk!
To clear the air, here is what DIDN'T happen:
1. I did not join Heaven's Gate
2. I did not die
3. I didn't have a falling-out with the staff at Finheaven
Now that the air is cleared and that it is evident that I am still alive - I am comfortable now updating you Premium members as to my whereabouts.
During Web Weekend 2005, I made some select contacts with the Miami Dolphins, and those contacts managed to get back in touch with me many months later, hiring me for a post-graduate staff assistantship. I was encouraged to leave the site immediately. Take me word for it - there was no other option as far as leaving. It was to leave abruptly or stay/leave with a last hurrah and not get the job. If you were given the opportunity to work for the Miami Dolphins the way I was, you would've done the same thing. The staff here understood my decision.
The players you read about in 2006, the staff and other personnel that was around them (even Saban), and the media that wrote about them from then up until now - I got to interact with these people, and let's just say it was the opportunity of a lifetime. I can't elaborate further (sorry folks), but just know that I did not take it for granted. I got a whole new perspective on things, and all the "insider" info on this site turned out to not be "insider"...it's quite amazing.
After being able to work Super Bowl XLI, I was cut loose by the organization, as the post-graduate Staff Assistantship only lasted up until that point. There wasn't a full-time job available for me within Miami Dolphins, LTD. So basically I lasted about as long as Daunte Culpepper did (just one season).
A little over a month after my release, I found a job working as a video producer for CBS Sports.com - which is where I am now. I love it and am doing all I can to contribute to the CBS Sports product.
I've grown up in the last two years, I've grown older, I've grown wiser, and I just wanted to come on here and say that I miss the site, still lurk all the time, and hope only for the best. "Muck" is a good friend of mine and we talk every so often about the welfare of the site.
Finheaven.com played a major role in setting things in motion regarding my career, and I will be forever in debt. So I will continue to talk with George about how to further improve the site (whether he takes me seriously or not is another issue ) and will continue to lurk after writing this.
As a final note (I will post other clips later in this thread), I did manage to do a documentary of Web Weekend the following season - where I got to finally meet Fin-atic and many more phin-fan webmasters from across the internet. Here's what I put together to commemorate the occasion.

Lastly, please keep all contents and information about me within the confines of the premium forum.
Warmest regards,
Matt
