Just curious if anyone else thought that it was possible for ginn to be moved to 2nd or 3rd reciever in favor of Cam, or Bess? Thoughts.

No, because neither Cam nor Bess can demand safety help like Ginn can.

very possible
nothing is defined
there is open competition @ every position during a rebuilding project
should begin to see the team collective take shape in 09,
with a number of players stepping up to define their place within the Franchise
We will Contend in 2010

Bess is a slot reciever, and is Welker-like. He isn't a true #1, but he is a great guy in the short part of the field, who can make almost every catch and turn it into positive yardage. Camarillo a potential #1 WR candidate, however, it is going to take some time for him to rebound after that knee injury. He will probably start the season on PUP imo.

We still need to draft a reciever.

Brandon London should be interesting to watch this year.
Sure to pick up another WR in the draft too. it's all wide open for the WR stable in 09.

Competition-The Elixir Of Success!

Having Ginn as a #2 receiver is not really a bad thing. That means that Ginn is matched up against the Defenses #2 CB. I think Ginn can be a special player in the NFL if the right plays and match ups are made to use his skill set to the maximum potential. He is not and never will be a A. Johnson or L. Fitzgerald but could however be a man on his OWN list. I hate to say it but like Wes Welker is to the slot position.

I think to much is put into wether a receiver is #1 or #2, most of the time both are out there every play anyhow. (yeah...yeah I know they need a rest) The 1 and 2 are more like a pair that works together. Minus London (who has yet to prove anything) and Wilford (who was a mistake), all of our receivers are the same. Small and quick with a knack at getting open. No big go to guy. If London is the Deal or we draft a Bigger WR that makes it in the NFL our WR's, passing game, and hate for Ginn will all see drastic improvements.

It really dosnt matter where we line Ginn up at. With our current core of recievers he will be treated as our #1 by defenses. He is good enough to demand that type of respect from opposing defenses. I like both Camrillo and Bess but they are what they are and that is solid possesion recievers with some good grit. When Ginn has the ball he is a threat to take it all the way it does not matter if its a deep ball or a behind the line reverse or screen. He has the explosiveness that teams have to defend against being burned by.

Your #1 and #2 receivers are just semantics. If you put Bess as the #1 out on the field and Teddy as the #2, the double team will still go to Teddy seeing he is the bigger threat. A teams #1 and #2 receivers are dependent on how the defense reacts to each player on the field, and is not a factor of the depth chart listing.

no its not a bad thing at all but i dont think any of our other WR could beat him out for the #1 WR spot

Several have said it spot on: it's about skills. Ginn has the skill set to demand coverage and fear in the deep third of the field. Camarillo and Bess are VERY slow for WRs: they make their living horizontally, not vertically, in the field of play -- 100 percent dependent on a "number one" WR that opens up the underneath zones by demanding downfield attention.

In Welker terms, it's why no one fears going one on one w. Welker down the field, but they hate him in underneath zones and the seams b/c he's on a team with Moss et al, and can live there and kill them... since the field is stretched, those underneath and horizontal routes are open most of the time.

And note: Welker is must quicker than either Cammy or Bess.

IMO Cammy and Bess stuck on this team b/c of a combination of Ginn's skills AND Penny's vast limitations downfield: they have worked on their offensive splits over and over and over again, maximizing the horizontal space -- at least enough to make Penny and the team fairly successful against lesser Ds. Against Baltimore we saw how well that worked...

Factoid: Both the WILDCAT and the emergence of Cammy and Bess as starting WRs are heavily influenced by the choice of Penny at QB -- it's like mascara on an aging beauty queen: it can fool from a distance and for those slightly inebriated, but up close the pros know the difference.

Ginn has #1 WR skill.

Bess -- not even close. He runs like a 4.67 40. Many LBs run faster and even some DEs.

Cammy -- somewhat better but still less than #1 [if defining that by demanding vertical attention and making the other WRs potentially more open].

I think ginn would be a great #2. We need to get a Big WR in the draft like Heyward-bey , Nicks or Kenny britt.
