This seems to be the pool of players we are considering at WR.

Marus Robinson
Curtis Conway
Willie Jackson
Sam Simmons
J-Mac
Ward
Baker
Keith Stokes (CFL KR)
Kendall Newson
Terrence Edwards
Kelley Washingon
Doug Gabriel
Jermaine Lewis
Albert Johnson

Out of these I see Marcus Robinson, J-Mac, Kelley Washington, and Sam Simmons joining Chambers on the roster. I think we will carry six WRs. Newson would stay on the practice squad. Stokes would be the KR. Simmons the PR.

What do you think?

That is a possibility, but I've heard a lot of good things about his Keith Stoke's returns. The more probable one is Lewis though. Minor can become the #2 guy, instead of having it as Konrad.

Can someone please explain why the hell Konrad was returning next to Minor? Was it just for blocking or something?

Yeah Lewis would be a nice pickup. Can't help but wonder, though if he goes back to the Ravens. They're still in good shape cap-wise, aren't they??

Obviously, I think Sam SImmons needs to be given a shot... he needs to be the return guy, he was solid in college returning kicks... But a lot hinges on if Gadsden returns... Fielder really missed the guy, and Cris Carter wasn't the answer... McKnight and Ward wouldn't be anything more than #4 WRs on most NFL rosters...

Why would you say that McKnight would have about 870 yards if he started the full season.

I seriously think that if Kelley Washington is picked he will take the #1 spot from Chambers. Chambers would be able to do the intermediate-deep ball again if that happened.

Ravens are very good cap-wise as far as in know.... In very good shape

Why did you put Doug Gabriel in that list? I haven't heard anything whatsoever linking the Phins with Doug Gabriel. Could it be that you've put him in there simply because you've been pumping up this guy for the past couple of weeks?

ANYWAY...I like Lewis returning and filling in spot duty at WR. My preference is give J-Mac a paycut, sign Curtis Conway, and draft a WR that could play slot in rounds 2 or 3 (probably 3). That would fill out our receiving corp at five. If we couldn't get away with the paycut for J-Mac I say we cut him because he and Conway are too similar. We can use the money to sign back OG...or maybe a speedster like Martay Jenkins but for now I'd like to stick with names we know are linked with the phins. By the way if Kelley Washington falls to us in round 2 I don't care how much we need an OLB we need to grab him.

Washington will be long gone before the 49th pick. You'd be smart to take him off your list immediately.

Aqua I am not so sure. Everybody isn't sure he is completely healthy. After all isn't that what he said, not the scouts? His other issues may drive him down. If he isn't there than another good WR will have dropped down there.

I forget where I heard the Phins looking at Gabriel.

There isn't a solid round 2 LB, now that Bailey has blown off all concerns with his comine performance.

Let's look at the teams that have a good chance of taking a WR in the first and early 2.

Lions-Charles Rogers
Jaguars or Texans-Andre Johnson, Jaguars will take someone else if he isn't there.
Atlanta-maybe Jacobs or Bryant
Houston-Might not even count if they take Johnson in the first

Then voila we are at us.

Rank of WRs

1-Rogers
2-Johnson
3-Jacobs
4-Bryant Johnson
5-Brandon Loyd
6-Kelley Washington(may go up)
7-Anquan Boldin

There you have it even if San Fransisco and Tennesee took a receiver, we would still get one of the top receivers.

Those two teams won't take a WR, since they have other needs, and Justin McCareins emerged along with Tai Street.

Washington, now with a clean bill of health, easily jumps to the number three WR in the draft. He got the okay from doctors and at 6'3 225 with his speed he'll easily jump Jacobs, Lloyd, and B Johnson.

Right now I'm hoping Vince Manuwai slips to 49 and we grab him. Manuwia, Nails, and McKinney could give us a solid interior OL for years to come. Re-sign Dixon, cut Perry after June 1, sign Gandy and Ricky should run for 2000.

The Phins haven't been linked with Doug Gabriel, trust me I know. They could be, but they haven't OFFICIALLY been linked by media or anything. Its just pure speculation. Not like Terrence Edwards. I like ya Jaj, don't get me wrong...you post a lot and always around to discuss things but ya gotta stop passing off your own personal opinions like they are official or even unofficial fact or some kind of intelligence info or somethin. Like this, Doug Gabriel has been your boy for a while now but there's no article linking the Phins with him. And in another thread you're all like "The only QB the dolphins are considering is Dave Ragone TRUST ME" or something like that. If nobody calls you on it, then people who have lives and don't get to read ALL of the dolphins articles and stuff may see that post and take it that you have read all the stuff and have seen the phins officially linked with the dudes.

Aside from that, did Bailey run at the combine? I've been interested in seeing what he does there. If you have a link I'd love it.

And yeah, there are OLB prospects a'plenty for round 2 because the Phins are interviewing tons of DEs and inquiring about their ability to switch to OLB.

Kelley Washington from what I'm reading, got positive reviews at the combine medically but there's still one problem for him. Teams KNOW that he's got fused vertabrae and thats never good. But also, he's expected to have a very important checkup by his surgeon just before the draft in April. If the surgeons remarks are only lukewarm or negative you'll see Washington drop like a stone. And even if they are good, he won't rise much on the boards because it is far easier to take a guy out of consideration in your draft strategy than it is to raise a guy up on your boards that quickly and that late in the game.

I don't know, he could be gone by mid first round. But then again, at this stage before the draft, Chris Chambers was considered third best next only to David Terrell and Koren Robinson. His stock dropped dramatically by draft day. Its tough to gauge anything at this stage and smart to get good looks at all kinds of first round prospects. Luckily the coaches are by now very experienced at dealing with a draft with no first round pick as we've done so twice already in three years. Two of our three drafts we managed to get a guy in round 2 I originally thought was gone by end of round 1. The other draft, we didn't draft til round 3 and I'll admit the McKinney pick kind of surprised me.
