WR considerations

Ok fine even if Washington goes that high we got Bryant Johnson. At the least we will get Boldin.

I can see us getting a G, but no that early.

I'm not sold on taking a WR with the second pick.

Last year no rookie WR caught even 50 passes so what could we really expect a rookie 2nd rounder to catch 25-30 balls? Why not start McKnight and Chambers and find a second-tier free agent to play the third WR. Someone like Simmons or Baker can be our fourth WR. Then when we have a first round pick in 2004 we draft one of the top WR's.

I don't think we go into the draft saying we're either picking a LB or a WR. Why not take the best player available between OL, LB, S, WR, FB, or DL?

I'm still hoping for Manuwai

Bailey had a 46 inch vertical and a 4.28 40 time.

Ok thats what I thought. Jaj you're thinking of the Georgia article and thats not from the combine. He 'reportedly' had a 4.28 time in the 40, and supposedly a 46 inch vertical but as someone else TRIED to tell you (I think it was Boomer) that article has been around for a while dude and those are not from the combine. Boss Bailey is still rehabbing I think and he's looking to wow people at the combine but he may not even run there. He may wait until the pro day workout or somethin.

Oh and Aqua, history has shown that 2nd round WRs can pretty much be grouped with 1st round WRs in terms of production and chances of breaking out. In fact drafting a first or second round WR over the last I believe 5 years gave a team an 80% chance of having a guy breakout by his 3rd year. Drafting a 2nd rounder to me would not so much be an attempt to get help at WR this year but rather to secure the WR position next to Chris Chambers for years to come. And if we get an older guy like Curtis Conway (my preference) then we'd need a younger guy waiting to take over within 2 years.

Parrot I'm not opposed to taking a WR with the pick I'd just rather see the best player drafted.

Of course but a lot of the times not one guy is gonna stand out to you.

And taking the best player available doesn't always lead to good things. Ask Dave about Jamar Fletcher...
