WR Sherfield: Dolphins are using the 49er playbook

He’s a true pro and practitioner of the position. I coach WRs I love to show the guys Kupp routes and training videos.

A lot of the PA production and tight bunch stuff is just pitch and catch beautiful design from Mcvay but kupp uncovers himself w/ the best of em highly under rated receiver.
I'm not sure he's under-rated anymore.

Just like the playbook he could have said that as a form of misdirection. Yes it could be based on the SF playbook, but there could be tweaks and wrinkles to make it different

Every play that Shanahan (sp?) told MM was too risky or too far out there is in the Fins playbook.

Everything MM has always wanted to try.

Check your pulse. We’re going to be entertained.

We should all just assume that McDaniel has been spending the last six months in the xerox room making photocopies of the 49ers ipad.

McCoach is an expert at mis-direction. Yes, there will be motion and maneuvers to force the defense to show its hand. But where he excels is the sleight of hand. He sets you up and fools you and breaks tendencies. That's the real magic, not the general concepts. I think we will see that he will scheme us to run the ball and to get receivers open. He's playing chess.

The first time a back gets stuffed for a two yard loss, don't panic. Look at the offense holistically and like chess. He is setting up one read for a LBer and then will crush him later with something totally different and unexpected.

Sherfield should not have been so open and transparent. He will probably make the roster for his special teams proven performance and he's handy depth at WR. However, he should be castigated for making that admission public. Just dumb...
By making this admission public, opposing Defenses will smile and just focus on certain approaches to handling certain formations because the Dolphin Offense now becomes more predictable. If Sherfield had Bill Belichick as his head coach, he'd be facing a stint in the doghouse and torture.
The coaches in the NFL aren't stupid. You don't think they were expecting there to be some strong similarities?

McCoachin and the players have already said that he tailors his offense to what the players like to run, and what they will excel at.

just because we use the exact same playbook (we won't) as last year's San Fran playbook, the plays that will actually be called on the field play-to-play and game-to-game will be plays designed for Tua-Edmonds-Waddle-Hill-Gesicki-etc. success, not Garappolo-Deebo-Ayiuk-Kittle-Mitchell-etc.

as McD sees what is working and what is not, and gets feedback from Tua and the offensive players, the playbook will mold around them.

Even in SF, if they stuck with the exact same playbook as last season (they won't), with Trey Lance starting this season they will be calling plays to capitalize on what he likes and does well (if he does anything well, lol).

Think it's kinda funny some people are saying "wish he didn't say that" while other posters have eluded to "yea it looked similar to SF."

Like come on, really? Any future defenses we play already have come to that conclusion on their own. This isn't secret information; it's obvious as hell.

And from a coaching standpoint evaluating players, yea if you can't learn this 'system' , not sure what value you would have to the team in the regular season
