I'm writing a persuasive paper on how much better the phins are then the jest, and basically how bad the jest suck. I've used stats like our 6 super bowl appearances to their 1 minor bowl, our 14 division championships to their 4? Our winning record, our perfect season, dan marinos 62,000 yards and 86 rating to namaths 27,000 yards and 65 rating, our afc championships to their goose egg, our playoff record vs them, and our current qbs stats to theirs. Am I missing anything?

You could add the fact that they have a losing record as a franchise. 45% winning percentage all time, good for seventh worst all time. The Dolphins are 2nd all time at 57.9% to Dallas, which is 58%.

I would talk about their draft history as well...

Some of the worst picks ever..

Also alot of turnover in front office and coaches.

JUNC about to chim in with "we went blah, blah blah last year". Oh hell, copy and paste just about anywhere he has posted on a thread and it's bound to pop up.
Other then that, to add the Jets have just been a inconsistently good, they have been consistently bad. Growing up in NY I understand first hand they play second fiddle to the Giants. The numbers speak for themselves when it comes to the Jets.

I'd also add they are the second best team in their own city...That seems Perverse, uh, I mean persuasive.

On the other hand, I'd leave out the fact that they have a winning record against us overall.

Yep. I'd leave out that part.

Yeah I didn't include their overall record against us, even though its close enough for us to even it the next two years. I had to include an argument from the jets side, and I included last years playoff appearance just as every other jet fan does. I rebutted it with them being let in. My prof is a football fan, he knows.

Miami does have the better history BUT you only have one more SB title than the lowly Jets and our SB was the most significant game in pro football history.

You can also talk about how the Jets have the edge in the all time series, how we have made 2 title games since your last app, how Miami has a history of getting humiliated in playoff losses, how the great Dan marino never came close to winning a Super Bowl and the overrated Namath(I do think he was overrated) led the Jets to a SB over Don Shula and the Colts. You can also talk about how it's been 10 years since your last playoff win and the last time you even came close to make an AFC Title Game was 1994.

Anything you need to help you out I'm here for you:D

Like JJ Johnson, Yatil Green, Ted Ginn, Jamar Fletcher, John Avery,etc...:D

and you guys are the 3rd best team in yor City after the heat and UM, actually you might be the 4th after the Marlins.

Instead of the excuse about us being let in talk about how Miami had playoff destiny in their hands w/ 3 weeks to play and how you went 0-3. Also talk about how the '72 team played the weakest sched of any SB Champ and how the '08 team played 5-6 dead teams to end that season before their usual playoff humiliation?

Ask your professor what these #s have in common:

62-7
38-3
24-3
38-16
31-14
29-10
37-22
27-0
27-9

How do you figure that?

And while the Dolphins might not be the most popular professional SPORT in Florida right now, but they are the most popular professional FOOTBALL team in Florida. The Jets are second to the other FOOTBALL team in New York.

And technically, wouldn't the Bills be the least liked team in New York state?

Anyone see the newest installment of ESPN's Make a Wish segment with the kid who wanted to meet Tomlinson and the Jets? Pretty moving. Kid got to meet a ton of Jets players, Jets GM, Rex Ryan, got to visit the locker room, attend a practice, and got a bunch of autographs as well. Touching.

Kid should have wished the Jets could beat the Dolphins though instead IMO.

It was the first SB w/ genuine National interest and it helped elevate the game to the heights we see it today. The Jets proved than the AFL could compete w/ the NFL, it was a historical game.

The Giants have been around 85 years, the Jets 50. That is a huge difference and w/ that we are very close to the Giants in terms of fan support in the NY area. We;ve sold out every game since 1978 and that streak would havegone on forvere if they didn't get greedy and overprice PSLs.

The New York in NY Jets and Giants represents NYC not NYS. They play in the NYC metro area, people around here do not care about the Bills just as in Western NY they do not care about the Jets or Giants.

You can't bring something serious to this goofy, fun thread(the last line I liked, good job:up:)

you do realize, although our schedule that year was really easy, we were also playing without bob griese basically the whole year and had earl morall instead, a 36 year old back qb. also, no matter wat, going 17-0 is impressive no matter who u play because know other team has gone undefeated throughout a season ever in nfl history as ur well aware of, and to not hit a wall in one game, and they still did have to play the afc championship game on the road in pittsburgh.
