FIRST-ROUND GRADE: A
The overhaul of the offensive line continues for the Miami Dolphins, with the selection of Vernon Carey from the University of Miami with the 19th selection in the draft. Wanting to secure the services of this talented offensive lineman, the Dolphins traded up one spot in the draft obtain this versatile player. Carey is a solid selection for Miami, as the team attempts to solidify its offensive line and Carey projects to become the starting right guard in Miami as a rookie.

OVERALL ANALYSIS
The Dolphins headed into the draft looking to add a starting quality offensive lineman and they found one in the versatile Vernon Carey. The addition of cornerback Will Poole and offensive lineman should not be taken lightly. Both players have ability and will add depth to the Miami roster.

He is projected to be our starting Right Tackle.

I hope he starts at RT but the possibility remains he'll start at RG. DW feels a sense of urgency enough to put our best 5 OL out there. There's no guarantees that as a rookie Carey has the skills to play OT right out of the box (history shows that OTs taken in the 2nd half of the 1st do not necessarily start first year even if they are RT types) and so DW might move him to RG where he definitely is good enough to start right out of the box. Unfortunately the more he practices at RT the quicker he'll be ready so if we move him to RG he could play there a few years before we can move him.

All teams must get an A for the first round... They're getting the top players, right? I don't see how that grading scale works...

no if the dolphins drafted Steve Jackson, they deserve a much less of a grade then an A
