Yahoo Sports article on Phillip Merling....

No offense but the article isn't really about Philip Merling, it just cites him as an example.
I got really excited to read an article about this kid. Was really hoping it was going to include something about his recent development.

This article is basically stating nothing.....That writer must have been really bored or something because he is just stating something that is obvious and cannot be changed. Obviously if you are a good player then the sooner you can hit free agency, the more money you will make. Thats common sense....you are obviously gunna make more money in free agency when 3 teams are bidding on you compared to just one when being picked out of the draft. Secondly, a player cannot chose to be in the beginning of the second round as opposed to late in the first round so what is even the point?

Off topic a bit, but I just had to post this article about Zach Thomas.

http://www.miamiherald.com/614/story/1004632.html

Zach and Jason Taylor were the heart and soul of the Dolphins defense for a long time. We need 11 guys just like Zach and JT on the team. We'd go a LONG way. This quote from the article tells you WHY Zach was a 7 time Pro Bowler.

"Those seven Pro Bowls? The 1,737 tackles (more than any linebacker currently in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, by the way)? Thomas believes he achieved those accolades by putting himself in the right position on the field as a result of painstaking preparation. And his decision to keep playing was a similar process."

If Phillip Merling wants to be a "great one" like Zach he's going to need to do what Zach does. There's no substitute for putting in the hard work before the games are played. Being very serious about your pro football career. Every little thing you do adds up and makes a difference over time. That's what separates the good ones from the great ones ... what they do before Sunday at the game.

According to this post, you should be Scott Mckillop's biggest fan.

If there is ever going to be another Zach Thomas, Mckillop is the guy.

Mckillop was doing Zach like game preparation all through his freshman and sophomore years when he was Blades backup and not expected to hit the field.

What the heck is wrong with some of you on here, like a bunch of spoiled brats. Is it really necessary to be so negative?

Seriously lol, some of the people around here have turned into a bunch of sour pusses :). Whats worse we are even starting to see it from some of the older(not age) members who have been on this site for many years.
