Dolphins K Caleb Sturgis (groin) says he's back to 100 percent.
Sturgis battled a nagging groin issue through much of camp and nearly lost his job to John Potter. He'll head into Week 1 with a short leash. As a rookie last year, Sturgis was a disappointing 26-of-34 (76.4 percent) on field goals.
in case you don't know im not high on Sturgis. he better bring it come sunday. or we need to bring in someone else. Sturgis should be on his last chance.

I have absolutely no confidence in this groin issue NOT resurfacing.

Made of glass. He could re-aggravate the groin on a kickoff or an extra point.

I'd be a tough call on who gets injured first in Sunday's match-up: Glasskowski or Sturgis.

Game will come down to a game winning FG chance.

51 Yard FG Attempt by Sturgis, against the wind.....

Kick is up, curving to the left....... and its........

0-1. We havent gotten those breaks since Olindo

But has he also exorcized those last-season mental "yips"?? :ponder:

I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

I was getting so excited with Potter, I thought we had found the guy we could feel confident from over 50, as well as a pressure packed 45 yarder to win the game.

Sturges better get plenty of sleep, and better have 110% concentration when/if it falls upon on him to win it.

i have 0% faith in any field goals over 30+ yards with him.

I expect him to cost us more games this year

Sturgis missed 4 kicks under 50 yards last year: one was blocked due to the rush not a poor kick, one hit the uprights from 46 yards out into the wind at Foxboro, the other two were very poor misses.
Prior to injuring his groin last year Sturgis hadn't missed a kick. He hurt his groin in October and followed with a 6-of-11 month. He went 13 of 16 during the final eight games of the season. Overall Sturgis was 20-23 when somewhat healthy.

Joe Philbin has never lost a game as a Head Coach, if you take out the ones he didn't win.

I'm just saying when he was healthy Sturgis had a good rookie year. If he's indeed healthy he should do just fine. I'm not saying he's going to make every field goal he attempts, but few do.
