Why does Tillman continue to get the starting job over Yeremiah Bell? Everytime I watch the Dolphins both last year and this year (albeit one game) Tillman is blowing coverage and sucking at safety. Everytime I see Bell on the field he is making nice plays in coverage and in pass rush situations. Bell is not the best tackler but it is obvious that he is a far better player than Tillman and in a hurting secondary we need somebody who can actually make plays. Bell needs to play more, Tillman sucks. Period.
 
I have to respectfully disagree on this one. I think both players are pretty comparable to each other. I think (my opinion only here) that Bell is a better blitzer and perhaps better against the run but Tillman is better in the open field with coverage. The game against Pit where they scored that long TD pass was not really TIllman's fault. It was his responsibility but he almost made a great play on it and came up only inches short.

Again, just my opinion but I do like Bell.
 
No clue, been wondering that since the preseason. Bell was, by far, one of the best playmakers in our secondary towards the end of last year. He deserves his shot, especially with the way Tillman played vs. Pittsburgh
 
Tillman is the coverage guy, he may not be too great at it but Y.Bell isn't the answer to replace him in that aspect.. I would say Bell would hafta beat out R. Hill. Just my opinion i havent studied film or anything that's just the way i see it. I too am a bigger fan of Bell than any other safety we have, but i really havent seen much from him to say he should be our free or cover saftey.
 
Bell is the better blitzer and probably a harder hitter then Tillman but he has not proved that he can be real good in coverage in the NFL.
 
Tillman is better in coverage and that is what we need right now.

I wish I could find the article that said he ( Bell ) was not a good tackler in the open field and that leads to long runs. But I am with you on him starting. I like Tilman alot but think Bell is the better choice as starter.
 
I don't have it right here in front of me, but the Sporting News 2006 Scouting Guide gives roughly the following analysis of both players:

Travares Tillman - Good athlete. Can run and is a solid tackler. Will get lost in coverage at times.

Yeremiah Bell - Exceptional special teams player and a very good blitzer. Great athlete but is probably best kept in nickel and dime packages to prevent being worn down. Not very smart.
 
I like Bell, but I'll trust Saban & Capers as to who they feel is the better player. I suspect they know a few things we don't.
 
so they definitely moved him to nickel? that's still considered the "star position" right? which is what he was prior....im not sure...could someone clarify this for me?
