With all the excellent camp reports we've been blessed to read here at finheaven, does anyone know what's the deal with him these days? I've heard some reports about some of our other safeties, such as; Elam, Jones, and Bua; but what about Bell? I don't see him on any injury reports, so I figured he most be on the field. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Since Tillman's injury, I thought Bell would be make some noise in the secondary. I know Tillman is a free safety and Bell is more of a strong safety, but is Bell doing anything in camp worth talking about????

Are they giving him a chance to run with the first team defense at all?

I thought the guy had some talent. He seems to be in the Yatil Green / human Pringle mold, though.

Thats what happens when you are 200 lbs playing saftey. But I hope he turns out alright, he is already 28 years old I think.

Exactly. I'm just hoping he can hold up this year, becasue he would be great depth at a position that is extremely weak right now.

I know last year the reports were he was one of the quickest safeties with great instincts. Just needed to work on his tackling and ability to stay out of the training room. Have not heard anything yet this year though. And we all know how good last year's coaching staff was!

Bell will beat out Tillman for the starting job. Wait and see.

I believe he can too, that's why I started the thread. BUT...he's just as invisible as Tillman is right now, and he's the one on the field. That's why I'm puzzled.

Huh? Bell has the prototypical size and speed for a FS and has great ball skills. Unfortunately he cant stay healthy for a full year. I think he is like 6'1 205ish. Thats pretty much your ideal FS size.

SS on the other hand is more run stopping and should have a little more weight... 220-225ish for a SS and 200-210ish for a FS.

Tebucky Jones played out of position in NEW Orleans. Because of his speed, they used him as a FS when he is surely more of a run stopping, hard hitting SS, than the more corner back-like FS. He will def be our starting SS this year. Right now i think Bell is the frontrunner for FS. Tillman is better than ppl think, but Bell could/should beat him out with his superior physical abilites.
