Is the answer before someone posts whether we should take a look at CB Brian Kelly who was released today by Detroit.

Shockingly, I havent seen anyone post about his release yet. Usually anyone in the league gets cut or rumored to be traded and there is an immediate post about should we get this guy. And usually its an obvious NO. Funny, when there is a guy cut that we could actually use, no one makes a post about his release.....go figure.

Anyways, this guy could be our nickle corner. Joey Thomas and Jason Allen are terrible. Before you say, well the Lions cut him so he must suck.....well he is certainly better than anything we have after Will Allen and Goodman at CB. Man losing Lehan was a big blow. This Kelly guy could step in and do the job. And should we get to NY needing that game we can seriously use this guy. Especially if we wind up in the playoffs too.

parcells thinks more of joey thomas than you do, me thinks

Wasn't Thomas inactive vs the Bills? And JA didn't even get playing time .. so instead we had Culver and Jones in on nickel.. ugh

Exactly. And thats why I feel its actually not a bad idea to take a look at Brian Kelly. He is a vet in this league and played for that great Bucs defense a few years back. If he could come in and soak everything up for a couple weeks, he could be all set by the time the Jets game rolls around.

Well I'm not really sure on bringing in a new player this late in the season, but then again, there's no way he would look as lost as any other db's other than Allen and Goodman do

Kelly started 11 games for the Lions this season, but he was a healthy scratch on Sunday against the Vikings, as the Lions are increasingly giving playing time to younger players. Kelly comes out of this OK; he keeps his $3.25 million signing bonus and the last three paychecks from his $1.25 million base salary were guaranteed because he’s a vested veteran.

Per Clayton, Kelly will now look to sign with a playoff team.

Certainly taking a look can't hurt........but I'm not sure whats going on with him this year as he has only recorded one pass defended? We have to be careful this late in the year as getting him up to speed is a question mark.

Up until about 4-5 weeks ago, I was a "Jason Allen sucks" opinionist too. I'm not any longer. I know Moss put up big numbers against him, but Allen was right on top of him on each throw. For whatever reason, the past few weeks (when he played) Allen has been all over the guy he is guarding, and has made some nice plays for us. I think he may be on the upswing, and I promise you he is vastly improved from the year before. I may be in the minority on this one, but I'd stick it out with him. The real shame would be to let him go and watch him flourish somewhere else, especially how high we drafted him. Having said all of that, I wouldn't mind getting Kelly, but not at Allen's expense.

Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, BUT what's wrong with this guy if the worst, most desperate team in the league is cutting him loose?? Just asking

Why would the Dolphins want a system guy like Brian Kelly? Why would a system guy like Brian Kelly want to take a look at the Dolphins? We do not run anything close to the cover two that Kelly is use to, we ask our corners to cover deep in man coverage all the time. Kelly wasn't even good enough to play in Detroit's cover two, and at least they actually ran the system he is good in...why would Miami have him here to play in a different system he's not even as good in? It just doesn't make sense.

bring him in, see if he's better than Thomas, Allen, Jones or Culver..
Brian Kelly is not too bad at all..

Typical WV post where he only looks at things on the surface, yet still declares himself a football god in all things Jason Allen, John Beck, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.

A clever attempt at concealing yet another let's go get this guys thread after he is cut?? :err:

As CK stated, this guy does not fit our scheme and to try and teach him in two weeks time is a little far fetched. Makes no sense to go after him. I can forsee him back in Tampa.
