I think there should be a resource for all of us ******** amateur GMs who want to watch "the tape" and "scout" guys.

So here it is.

So I'll start, and everyone should add as they see fit. Let's make this the slowest loading thread on finheaven!

If you find a video on youtube or elsewhere that you think will help the finheaven membership analyze a Dolphins draft pick or UDFA signee, post it here. Cut ups versus individual teams. Highlights. Profiles. Local news stuff. Anything.

Anything, bitches.

DeVante Paker vs. Florida State (mostly against 2nd rounder Ronald Darby and 3rd rounder PJ Williams)

And here is the draftbreak.com page for Parker: http://draftbreakdown.com/players/devante-parker/

Jordan Phillips vs Clemson (probably his best college game)

Phillips vs. Tennessee (also a good game)

Phillips vs TCU (when they talk about taking plays off and not giving 100% effort, this is more what they mean

It's not going to be fun being a guard or center in the AFC East this year

is it only me or does anyone else not see anything special with phillips?

Parker vs FSU:

You don't get a good feel for a player in the usual highlight films but I appreciate Draft Breakdown bc it shows them through out the game even when they are not the featured playmaker.

College WR's can be especially difficult to evaluate at times b/c of the amount of blown coverages in college. Prime example is the first play shown with Parker vs FSU. I'll start after that play and be extremely and possibly overly critical.

0:46 - Despite not being the primary (or just a horrid pass under pressure), I would have liked to see him with a little field awareness in recognizing the umpire even though he was overcutting the slot.

0:55 - Nice job off fighting through the initial press, selling pass and then establishing his block with a good base vs the CB.

1:03 - Low pass and on a hitch. Still would like to have seen Parker with better feet on two occasions. 1) Out off his stance he stutter steps vs the CB playing press but he still has a 3 yard cushion to manage and could have exploded off he line instead of wasting some motion here. This could be a reason why the pass seems a bit early even though it was low. 2) His gather step on the hitch was sloppy and didn't provide enough push to properly comeback to the ball. And since we're strictly looking at Parker here, I wont comment on the QB.

1:10 - Not the target but showed a good outside-in move to get over the top of his defender on a fade route.

1:35 - In route. I again don't find myself liking his footwork on his breaks but does a good job of locating the ball on a high pass and coming down with it in traffic. In slow motion I find myself in a contradiction as his footwork looks cleaner than in real time with the exception of possibly a half step unnecessary which doesn't seem like much but will be the difference of separation in the NFL.

2:02 - Good explosion off the line here. What I would have liked to have seen on his hitch earlier but in Parker's defense the CB was playing off here as opposed to earlier and had already turned his hips before the snap. Nice job on the slant route, settling in b/w coverage and working up to a first and 1st&10.

Now Im drunk and it's late. Ill pick this up later.

First off let me say this, Louisville's quarterback was god awful, but this is what I see with Parker. He uses his hands well in order to get a little separation when the corner is close to him on go routes. He has to be careful he doesn't get to aggressive with that because he will get called for offensive interference, but I love that he has that subtlety to his game. A lot of young receivers do not incorporate that into their game until they have more experience and get NFL level coaching. He is also a natural hands catcher and I love how he snatches the ball out of the air.

I think he still has some upside also because like TheWalrus said in his thread about Parker, he only has one move to get off the press but he is so good at it, it works almost every time. I think he can be taught new releases and will need to add more moves at the line in order to beat NFL corners. He can also use a little refinement in his route running. I think a little technique work from NFL coaching will allow Parker to create more separation in his routes.

All in all, I am ecstatic with the selection of Parker in the first round and I think he is the perfect compliment to Miami's receiving corps. He is the piece that has been missing with their receivers since Tannehill has been the quarterback.

Great idea Wally. I'm way behind on this off season and just starting to catch up so my knowledge on some of these kids is minimal. Watching the Phillips tapes I come away impressed how much space he eats up and how well he moves for a man that large. There is a play in the TCU game where he engages then drops back in coverage that showed tremendous lateral movement and quick burst. Fluent movement in his feet there.

Not sure I buy into his being lazy. May be more a question of stamina. That first drive against TCU he looked worn out once TCU got inside the 5. The Miami heat is vicious and will be a factor. Strength and conditioning will be vital.

Absolutely boom or bust. If he is boom then he and Suh will impose their will on offenses. Could easily be the best value pick or another second round flop. Would have loved to solve the Mike issue instead of going this route but my fingers are crossed we get 100% from this young man.

Wow. The Phillips tape is interesting. It is so weird because he looks like he is an animal when he gets double teamed but doesn't look like he knows what to do when he is single blocked. His aggression level goes through the roof when they try to double team him and he uses his natural strength and leverage to hold his ground and throw the blockers aside. However, when he is single blocked he sometimes just seems to stand there. I don't get it.

I also don't think I buy all the talk about the kid not having any fire. If that were the case I don't think you would see the aggressive response when he is challenged by a double team. Most guys that lack desire do just the opposite when they are challenged like that and quit on the play and allow themselves to be driven out of the hole. He also shows enthusiasm when he or his teammates make a big play. He doesn't seem disengaged emotionally.

Can anyone out there help explain what I am seeing?

If you watch the TCU game.. It was bad... like really bad..

I haven't seen the Clemson game though, so I will watch his "best game" now and see if he is what everyone says he is.

Well...first I would tell the prospect to "BE PREPARED"

Then I think it is a good idea they know their knots.

Archery and BB gun shooting after they pass their safety test.

Reads the game well. Memphis does an interesting thing where they will have him line up in press against one WR and switch off as the play develops. Needs some technique work, but the work ethic (and leadership) was evident
