The double standard among the Dolphin fanbase is unbelievable! I thought Raider fans were bad, but you guys take the cake!

Consider these facts....

Chad Henne's stats got worse each year in college, yet all I hear are excuses about the drop off of talent at Michigan, or how they didn't open up the playbook for him. So what! He still got worse each year. In college, you are supposed to improve!

John Beck gets thrown to the wolves as a ROOKIE QB who, prior to starting, only had 1 week working with the 1st team and he gets throttled by Miami fans because he had a few too many fumbles. Despite the fact that his passing stats were better than the QB's he faced and despite the fact that Cam "didn't open up the palybook for him".

So let me get this straight... Beck, a rookie in the NFL with most of his practice reps coming from working with the scout team prior to his first start, has basically the same excuses that Henne has, who is a Senior QB playing against college opponents, most of whom will never even sniff the NFL. Henne gets a pass, while Beck gets calls for his head.

Last year, despite having excellent numbers coming out of college (far superior to those of Henne by the way), the critics were already lining up prior to Beck even showing up to camp. Member of this board were saying he should sit as a rookie and have time to develop, even if it meant that Cleo the Horrible would start.

This year, Henne, who's worst year was his senior year, is now suddenly "The Man" with people claiming he has the tools to start this year. Are you guys nuts?

If you are going to make excuses for people, then at least use the same excuses across the board and apply them in equal fashion. I especially love the "They didn't open up the entire playbook for Henne" excuse as to why he was just average his senior year. How affording Beck the same excuse. Afterall, it's true isn't it?

Or there is this one.... Henne played against tougher competition in college, so it's not fair to judge his stats against Becks while he was in college. Well, to that I say, Beck played with lesser talent around him, so it shouldn't matter. Look at the stats against common opponents. There are at least three teams that each of them faced in the same year. Beck's numbers agains the same competition (with lesser talent around him even) blow Henne's away! The fact is that no matter what the statistics show, Beck haters will always find some way of justifying their dislike for him.

yeah right. Let me separate your shoulder and see how you throw the football against Ohio state, or in any division 1 football game under center..

It's funny that you mention facts, because I am going to show you facts that you obviously overlooked or were too lazy to check up on.

If Marino had a SEPARATED SHOULDER ON HIS THROWING ARM and it clearly showed him favoring it on the field, he would get your sympathy to have him rest for a few games...

Not to compare Marino to Henne here, and I hope you are mature enough to get that, but its a SEPARATED SHOULDER on your throwing arm as a QB.. An injury such as that is not an excuse..

And another example of the myopic thinking that goes on here on this board , and showing how people just overlook the obvious-- is Henne had 55 less passing attempts in 2006 due to Michigan's offense.. However the difference in yards was only 18 yards.. And he threw only one less TD while throwing 55 fewer passes.. And the same number of INT's (8).

Henne had about the same amount of yards, TD's and INT's in 2006 with only 323 pass attempts compared to 382 pass attempts the year before in 2005

So Henne did play better in 2006 than he did in 2005.. That is a fact.. To say he didn't is overlooking the obvious.. he obviously didn't play better last season because he had something called a separated shoulder. Duh

great, another thread of "my guys is better than your".....guys get over it,they're BOTH on our team...why can't you guys just root for both of them to do great? If you like one better than the other then fine but can you guys stop hating the other?.Now a days you need 2 QB's that can win for you.At last I think we have that...what's so wrong with having 2 good QB's on our team?

Ozzy rules!!

BECK! BECK! BECK! He should definitely start, just to see if he can pan out as our leader, but if he doesn't we can fall back on McCown for now. Give Henne some time to learn the system as well as the players around him.

Here's where it gets tricky...
If Beck pans out, then we're set. GREAT!
If Beck fails, then we fall back on McCown. What if he turns out to be 'the guy'?
If Beck and McCown fail, then we fall back on Henne and hope he pans out.

We've got options. I hope this is how the FO is thinking...

Beck has unique talents, incredible release, beautiful loft, smarts, grit, toughness. and is mobile, henne will be good i hope, maybe one day he can get our 2nd round pick back

I don't give a flying **** what Beck, Henne or McCown did or didn't do in college, may the best man win the starting job in the Pro's. All three are on the roster and I'm rooting for each.

You are trying to argue that's a positive?

John Beck also played with a bad shoulder, which has been attributed to him resorting throwing from the 3/4 position.

The video stated that his college coaches never tried to correct it (it was paying dividends and if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude prevailed).

That's the reason he threw over 5K times this off season, to get his throwing motion BACK to an over the top motion that he had before the injury.

John Beck had a seperated shoulder his junior year at college, played through it and still posted better numbers than Henne.

You nailed it.

There's no grand secret plan with the front office to get Henne in there asap. If that were even close to their top secret plans, they wouldn't have passed on Henne at #32.

They are going to let Beck/Mccown battle it out for 1st. If it's close, the nod will go to Beck because he arguable has more potential for improvement.

If both suck, Henne will get his shot. That's pretty much what logic dictates here.

BECK! BECK! BECK! He should definitely start, just to see if he can pan out as our leader, but if he doesn't we can fall back on McCown for now. Give Henne some time to learn the system as well as the players around him.

More myopia.. Let's throw Beck on Michigan and have them run the ball 63% of the time like they do.. And not throw over 50% passes to backs and TE's (easy passes).. Let's see Beck try to pass 76% of his passes to wide receivers instead of so many easy dump off passes to backs and TE's.
Then let's see Beck's numbers.. They wouldn't be nearly as good as they were at BYU, not close. That's for sure.. Anyone can figure that out.

I dont get it. Why even discuss this, why not sit back and let them fight this out. I dont care who the hell is better as long as that person can produce Wins!

Maybe they ran 63% of the time because that's what

Their strength was. In fact it probably opened up the passing game. Don't like those implications though, right?
