You guys think we want Julian Peterson?

His price tag may be too high, but he's DEFINITELY getting some strong consideration.
 
He'll want big money. However, he played under Saban at Michigan State and may be willing to work with him on a contract.
 
why do we want another OLB? we have Crowder who fills one spot for good, and the OTHER side can be filled by Spragan/Pope and i know we have like 2 other young guys who can fill that spot. Thomas will be here for another 4 years i think, so as far as MLB goes, id wait 3 years to draft an MLB. but really, do we NEED an OLB??

Are you serious? Spragan/Pope are backup types. The Dolphins need another starting quality linebacker to pair with Thomas and Crowder.
 
Peterson does not have a problem staying healthly he just had a season ending injury.

Peterson is the PERFECT linebacker for our system.

Pope aint playing the other OLB spot.

The Weakside linebacker is basically the 2nd ILB. He lines up mirror Zach Thomas, backed up off the line over the Guard. That is Channing Crowders position, and what we drafted him for. Zach Thomas is the one that the scheme focuses on protecting, so we've got to have a bigger(245+ pound) type lined up here.

The Strongside linebacker, 90% of the time, is lined up on the Line of Scrimmage over the Tight End. He's got to deal with fighting off blockers every rushing down. Very rarely will you see one of these players smaller then 6'2" or lighter then 240 pounds. The only one I know of lighter then 240 pounds in Julian Peterson, who is an athletic freak.
 
I would rather get Willie McGinest at a cheaper price.

I believe he is too small to fit into Saban's defense. He would have been perfect in Jimmy Johnson's defense, but not with Saban. He likes bigger linebackers.

Crowder is our next middle linebacker most likely, he's supposedly really good when he plays their because it comes more natural to him. Peterson would be an instant force on our defense, he's that good of a player. If saban gets a good chance to pick him up i think he will be here.
