You know it's bad when you don't even want to get on here cause of all the whining. I mean come on people, let's wait until the regular season starts to see how good we are. We all love the team and want the best, but we played a team that went 15-1 last year, has a great defense, and a above-average offense and still hung in there with them, if we had eliminated half of the turnovers I believe we could have either tied or won the game. Our defense is getting better every game we play, and I believe once we start to gameplan and play our starters more than half of the game, we'll see some drastic improvement.

And maybe the offensive starters can score a TD if they gameplan around another teams weaknesses.

I'm just surprised that people are so wound up about a team that is not gameplanning against PRESEASON teams. Its about evaluating what we have, who we have, and how the players are doing. Finding weak spots and resolving them or planning away from them.

I'm also surprised that people expect "great" things this year when we have a new coach, new players, new asst. coaches, new co-ordinators, new play book, etc. Hell guys, if we win 5 games this year I'll be happy.

The so called experts are all basically saying the same thing, not this year but in about 2 or 3 we'll be back to high caliber. No coach has come in his first year and won the SB.

I just want the core players that will return next year to stay injury free and learn and get better.

Agreed!!!

Plus always remember our beloved 72' Fins lost 3 of 6 in the pre-season including the first 2 in a row. Now before any jackass wants to flame me and compare the talent we had in 72' to now, don't bother it was a much different game then. Come on ya'll...don't drink the poison yet. I am still looking for at least .500 this year!!! :D

Not to be knit picky, but George Siefert, Barry Switzer and John Gruden all did just that (in totally different situations). But I do agree with the rest of your post.

Agreed. I wouldn't jump ship just yet. Beside no gameplanning, there is no ability to feel out a team since your in only a quater or two. We experimenting on all aspects of the team.

You're absolutely right about allowing the Dolphins to play in regular season before we start full fledged whining. I have full confidence in our defense but there's this gut feeling I have and it won't go away. I still feel that our offensive line needs to be upgraded. It's going to take some time to tweak out the baddies and replace with some decent linemen. Oh well... Only time will tell. ;)

Good thread man. You know this is how i see it. Last year sucked and i was pissed off bc our team was screwing up almost every friggin game. Then when the Dolphins beat New England I smiled to myself and thought, even in their poor state last year they still beat a very good team. Point? It made my year and was looking forward to this season. I still am looking forward to this one- it hasn't even started yet.

Actually, it is the lack of gameplanning that makes the pre-season performance of this team so irritating. If there are this many mental errors and mistakes when all the team has to do is play basic, fundamental football, how many more so when they are asked to apply their brains to a real gameplan? Finding weak spots and then overcoming them is what pre-season is about, so how should a fan feel if after 3 games of discovering such weaknesses, we field an even worse team?

No real football fan invests too much stock into the pre-season, but to write it off entirely is also an error. All I have looked for this entire pre-season was some sign of improvement, particularly in the mental and proceedural side of the game. Instead, the team has gotten worse in those two respects. This leads me to believe that the probability of a very shakey start to the regular season is likely. The fan in me doesn't like that very much, because the fan in me doesn't want excuses, it wants wins. It is the realist in me that realizes this team has a long way to go, and therefore, feels the need to discuss it. Of course, I will take a well informed discussion of the realities of the team over the constant bombardment of "we will own the AFC" and "we will win 10 games" and other rah-rah tripe that gets posted on here all offseason.

the Colts are 0-2 and the Cards are 2-0, it's preseason the outcome of the game doesn't matter

I'd rather be good in the Regular Season rather then Preseason. It doesn't matter if you're 5-0 in the Preseason except for maybe a little confidence. I just want the best players out on the field at all times.

Like I've always said, if we still suck at that point, then that's just the way 2005 will go. Like we've said for 30 some odd years, "There's always next year"

There's two kinds of people on this board lately. The people whining, and the people complaining about the whining. I don't know which catagory I fall into, but I do know i'm tired of hearing both.
