No sign or trade for this or that QB, WR, TE, RB threads this coming off-season.

Obviously no QB in any capacity is needed unless we trade Moore away.

No RB is either with 4 guys who contribute in some fashion and Lamar Miller averaging over 4 yards a carry, all he needs is more touches and better line play.

Clay is a bonafide stud at H-back/TE and we have two nice developmental traditional TE's waiting on the wings.

WR is almost a logjam, no receiver we can afford will beat Gibson/Matthews for PT.

And most importantly, all of this happened for a simple reason, this staff is more than capable at player development an area we struggled with mightily since the JJ days.

Now, let the sign or trade for this or that OT, OG, FS, LB, K threads begin LOL.

Yes, It sure is great to know the nucleus is in place and we are winning.

We need at least 2 or 3 new starters on the OL and will need depth behind them... need Jenkins to start developing at LB and both our draft picks from CB... future is looking bright, but we still have A LOT of work to do.

The threads will be there, but they really shouldn't be. You're right, we have a solid core that should get better as long as we can resign a lot of that needed core.

funny, i was thinking of this exact thread.. The future looks GREAT

I hope we don't trade for anyone but we sure do need to draft some of those positions. Would love another speedy WR with some size. Matthews has stepped up in Gibson's absence but there are more than a handful of teams that lose two or three WRs for a few games and can't survive it. We lost two in Gibson and Binns and who knows how well they'll recover. I'd like a power back too but it's hard to evaluate the RBs on the roster when this O-line is so bad. Still better yards-after-contact would be nice. Especially on those goal line and short yardage runs we've failed at so many times this year. Obviously the O-line is a mess. I don't rule out a trade there.

Are you kidding? Even if/when we make the playoffs, I guarantee that barring a Super Bowl victory, there will be a faction of "Firelands" "Fire Philbins" "Not Sold on Tannehills" any skill player of note hitting free agency will attract a rabid base of "We Must Sign Him" guys...

Too many armchair GMs for any of this talk to stop. Honestly, can't be mad at em, its a message board and everyone has their opinions. I just don't subscribe to the same line of thinking and prefer to have a consistent organization that generally develops players from within, and we have been doing that with great success recently. i.e. Nolan Carroll, Jared Odrick, Rishard Mathews, Brian Hartline, Charles Clay etc. That's how the "year in year out" contenders are built.

I don't think it's a stretch to consider Ben Tate at RB. Pretty sure he's a free agent next year.

Our most important moves this off season will be resigning a large crowd of defensive FA's of our own.

It's great to be talking playoffs! Even the possibility of playoffs.

I don't like the trade Wake or Moore ideas though.

I agree with the OP and think Ireland should be given a large part of the credit. The only part I disagree with is at RB. We haven't had a big RB that can really pass block and break tackles since Ricky and Ronnie left. I really thought we should have picked up Bradshaw, he is a great pass protector and a solid back with good vision. Now he got hurt but I would love to take a look at someone like him next year to replace Thomas. Neither of our backs are even average when it comes to pass blocking. They are getting RT killed. No reason to go max protect when your backs whiff on every block.

I also think we still need a better redzone threat as well. A big tall WR or a missmatch TE. Graham is a FA this year, how cool would it be to have someone like that on the team?? We could also upgrade the LBs and maybe even the safety position. Jones has regressed this year after getting the big contract. Clemons is very solid but doesn't make any more plays than Jones. Would love to pick up Troy P from the steelers this off season. He is such a playmaker, he could teach our safeties how to make plays. I would hate to lose Clemons though.
