Suppose Darren McFadden is rated as the best player in the draft and we can't trade out of the pick, do you select him overall #1 (and have a bulk of the salary cap invested in 2 players who play the same position) or do you choose to spend the money on a very good player (not the best player in the draft) who fills a need? I say if he's the best, you have to draft him. Hell, I say if we feel he's the best, we should look to move Ronnie Brown (even though I really like him and would prefer to keep him and trade out of the pick) despite the fact that he wouldn't get us fair value after his injury. Thoughts?

I would just draft Matt Ryan because he is not only the best player available, but conviniently he plays the position that we most need to fill.

If we do get another good RB though, there is no need to trade Ronnie Brown. Why cant a team have 2 good running backs?? I would think it would be much easier to run the ball 30 times a game if you have 2 good running backs.

Its tempting but I would rather draft Chris Long, Jason Taylor is gonna be gone soon and we can keep our Brown/Williams/Booker tantem that has worked in the past. We couldn't get a good enough compensation if we got rid of Brown and he is just started to really adapt to our system and temporarily lead the league in yards from scrimmage.

I would fill the most needed position that cant be filled thru FA.

Im glad im not the one making these decisions.

Ok, Darren McFaddens already gotten in trouble at bar, rumor is he frequents strip joints, and his agent said it's possible he has children he doesn't know about.

#1? No.

I think there is a 0% chance we take ol' Skinny Legs McFadden. There are 4 other guys that would fill more vital positions, and more needed positions for us atm, that are grading out about the same in the Long brothers (yeah I know they arent brothers ..) Gholston and Ryan.
And teams compose their own draft rankings that often are totally at odds with "guru concensus" anyway, so who knows how they all grade out to Jeffy.

The resume doesn't look like it would fair well with the Tuna does it

WV, you are spouting your Matt Ryan stuff in every thread...it's a little old. All it does is make people repeat the same reasons to you over and over and over as to why taking Matt Ryan FIRST OVERALL is a BAD THING. No doubt we'll take a QB with later picks, but, picking a QB first overall is ludicrous. We need serious defensive help, and we NEED serious o-line help. If McFadden is rated number one, who cares? We should take the best player for our team. That is not Matt Ryan. It is also not a running back, as there's no way you put a running back on the roster, getting number one overall money, and don't play him every snap...and sit your current starting back who's getting paid quite a bit of money himself. It would be dumb.
