He was on the Colin Cowherd show on ESPN RADIO today...He had this to say about the dolphins...

"Another Horrible team (referring to what he said about the Browns, but I will tell you this...the dolphins have by far the best, the very best practices I've ever seen in terms of structure, discipline, and organization. Saban runs a tight ship there's no doubt. This secures my image of what he will do in the NFL...there's no doubting that Saban will have a fantastic impact on the Dolphins and the NFL. Not another spurrier scenario for sure. As for talent and depth, they are lacking a lot, but Saban will definitely make a strong impact on the little things...like discipline and management."

He also commented on the best Rookie he's seen so far and he said Cadillac Williams was hands down going to be the biggest impact on their team.

So there are both sides of the issue. I love hearing any tid bit I can though. I understand he's only been there a day at each camp so it's not a great feel, but it's something. He was also at Carolina, who he said was the best team he's seen all year. Lots of depth, not great depth(as in skilled players) but lots of good experience depth. He saw the Falcons and said Vick looked absolutely Horrible. Horrible. That's just one man's opinion, but said mechanically he pretty much sucked. Quote unquote. What do you guys think about all this?? He's a great writer usually, so I don't know what to think.

I STILL don't understand where he friggin gets that from.

No talent or depth???

yeah was listening to that as well.

For the record, he said the Brown's were horrible. He said the Dolphins were bad. It hurt a little. I cried inside at the drive thru.

No kidding. You know by now that I'm kind of a pessimist, but how do you call chambers, mcmichael, williams, brown a pool of no talent? Chambers has some of the greatest catches this game has ever seen and Mcmichael is still peeling off defenders from last year. I don't get it, but I think maybe he is referring to the "expected" confusion of adding all of these new minds and systems from all the new coaches. Outside of skilled positions at WR and RB, we really don't have solid players so maybe that's where he's getting it from.

Exactly.

And then, everyone wants to talk about the o-line. Do people realize that we now have two 1st round picks at bookend tackles??

I used to listen to him when he did local Portland radio ( a couple years ago). He liked to hear himself talk, but had a good idea once in a while.

Yeah, but people are focusing on the center and guards. They are either injured a lot of just lack the experience. I wish we could clone a bunch of Carey's and move them in there. Ha ha. We just signed that Ephraim from Philly...might help our cause.

Talent problems: Quarterback, Cornerback, Tackle, Guard, Center, Cornerback, Safety, Defensive Tackle.

Depth problems: Cornerback, Guard, Center, Safety, Linebacker, Tight End.

As Mr. Pastabelly points out, yes, we've got talent and depth problems. Also, nobody should be insulted that he didn't mention Ronnie Brown, because obviously Brown hasn't been in camp, and Cadillac has. I would take it as a good sign that Cadillac looks like the real deal, because Ronnie compared very favorably to Cadillac and if Caddy looks like the real deal, we know that it wasn't just that Auburn had a super OL that blew open holes the size of the moon.

On film Cadillac does look more impressive than Ronnie or Cedric.

Everything our players do well is magnified in our eyes because we are fans.

True, but I'll tell you this, I watched Auburn play UF live when I was in college and when Cadillac got injured his Soph year, it was brown who couldn't be stopped. It was actually his game against UF in 2001 that solidified his talent to the rest of the NCAA. He didn't have 40 carries the year before, but that night we couldn't bring him down. Ended up with like 150-160 yards and two TDs if my memory serves me correctly. I knew from then on that he was a stud. That's the reason TUbberville started the double attack...it was after that game.

You know what...normally I agree with you about being 'realistic', but I just got done watching that NFL network dude that is now touting us to atleast 9 wins...I laughed and thought of Megatron...but I don't know where you are going with this one?? I think the moves that Saban is enacting can only continue to build the case for more than Vegas' line of 5.5. I want to throw some money on the over. Just because anything and everything went against us last year...including us throwing like 6 interceptions for TDs...and we still won 4 games...we've got to atleast improve by 2...don't you think??

1. I'm not so sure about the "great write usually comment. In fact, my personal opinion is that he's average to above average as a writer. C to C+.

2. He's seen one TC practice. So I'm impresses with the comments about his Saban outlook.

3. He's seen ONE TC practice. He's not going to know about our depth other than what "name" players we have listed on our roster. Of the few things Saban actually says, he is on record stating that the 1st week or 2 are simply about fundamentals and putting in the playbook.

4. On Caddy, I think it's great. I was one of the few who was of the opinion that he was the best RB in this past daft. So, I've actually been reading TC reports on TB just to hear how he's doing...as it turns out, he's looked fantastic. NOW...that said about Caddy, I am happy to have Ronnie so don't go misconstruing that above statement. I think Brown fits Linehan's offense perfectly. Thus..I'm happy to have him. But I'll always keep an eye on Caddy, but you'll NEVER here me say "we should have drafted Williams". Especially after hearing some interviews with Ronnie, I love the guy's attitude.

There's no doubt that our game against them will be great. FIrst, we will have Williams back by then, just long enough for brown to have 4 games of NFL experience...then BOOM...we start hitting them with a double attack...bringing that auburn demise to the table...no rest for the defensive line and LBs...hey do you guys think all this attention to the running game will make waves with our WR and TE core?? I wonder?

I don't think you can overstate how important this will be to the reshaping of our franchise. This factor ALONE should win us several more games.
