Let's look at Chad Pennington on the New York Jets.

In 2006 and 2007, Chad threw to Jerricho Cotchery and Coles.

Jerricho Cotchery with Chad Pennington
2006 Cotchery stats : 82 receptions, 961 yards, for a 11.7 yard per catch, 6 TD's
2007 Cotchery stats : 82 receptions, 1130 yards, for a 13.8 yard per catch, 2 TD's

Laveranues Coles with Chad Pennington
2006 Coles stats : 91 receptions, 1098 yards, for a 12.1 yard per catch, 6 TD's
2007 Coles only started 10 games : 55 receptions, 646 yards, 11.7 yard per catch, 6 TD's

The next year in 2008, the Jets had Brett Favre. Same WR's.
Brett Favre as Jets QB
2008 Cotchery stats : 71 receptions, 858 yards, for a 12.1 yard per catch, 5 TD's
2008 Coles stats : 70 receptions, 850 yards, 12.1 yard per catch, 7 TD

So, BOTH Jets WR's playing with Chad as QB earned better results than anything Ginn has ever done and better than when Favre played QB for the Jets.

Fact: Jets WR's in 2006 and 2007 with Chad as QB were more productive than in 2008 with Brett Favre as QB

PART 2

Now, Pennington had a BETTER AVERAGE YARDS PER THROW than Brett Favre did with the Jets!

Brett Favre threw for 6.7 yards per throw in 2008 Jets, while Pennington threw for 6.9 yards per throw in 2006! (injured in 2007 but still had 6.8 ypt)

yes, but the TE got more TDs when favre was there, meaning favre didn't just look at the wide outs, he favored his TE

1) That means Pennington looks at WR's more than Favre does. Why isn't Ginn benefitting from this?

2) Chris Baker was the New York Jets starting Tight End from 2006, 2007, and 2008 seasons.

Chris Baker with Chad Pennington
2006 Baker : 31 receptions, 300 yards, 9.7 yard per catch, 4 TD's
2007 Baker : 41 receptions, 409 yards, 10.0 yard per catch, 3 TD's

Chris Baker with Brett Favre
2008 Baker : 21 receptions, 194 yards, 9.2 yard per catch, 0 TD's

However, Dustin Keller played as the #2 TE and he was drafted in 2008. So Pennington never played with him.

Dustin Keller with Brett Favre
2008 Keller : 48 receptions, 535 yards, 11.1 yard per catch, 3 TD's

So what have I proven in this thread?

Pennington still has a great arm, and he is the most accurate passer in NFL history.

He did a better job with Jets WR's than Brett Favre did. Favre is known for having a deep arm while Pennington is criticized for having a noodle arm, so obviously it's not true.

Ted Ginn Jr sucks. He's not even as good as other team's #2 WR's

you have proved nothing.

LOL! I still believe my eyes over stats anyday. Pennington = Weakest arm in football.

Favre's stats sucked over the last 5 games because he was hurt. That drops the overall numbers.

Plus the Jets were running the ball really well last year (without the wildcat) because of the threat of FAvre's arm.. Defenses couldn't just stack the box like they did against us last year in the running game. Because defenses had to respect Favre's arm.

That's why the Jets ran the ball a lot better between the tackles than we did last year. Their offensive linemen had less people to block on a play-to-play basis.

Where is the evidence to back this up?

and if it were true, then why didn't the Dolphins ever have a good running game with Dan Marino, the greatest QB of all time?

at one point in the thrid quarter penny was 15 of 20 for 90+ yards. thats around 4.5 yards per attempt. thats bad. he looked great playing his game, throwing the ball for under 5 yards each time. problem is at somepoint were going to have to try to win the game through the air. this is when penny poops the bed.

as far as his arm goes watch that pass ginn in the endzone. he took a running start and throw it as far as he could. funny thing is it made it to the endzone the problem was with all that effort it only went 40 yards. its not the problem that hes not accurate its the problem that his passes take forever to get there and that they give the defense plenty of time to close in on the ball

Pennington had a higher yards per attempt average (7.7) last year than either of the years you listed (6.4 and 6.9 , respectively). It was his second highest YPA ever. So how exactly is it the tools around him that are bringing him down?

who said Penny is being brought down?

I am arguing that Penny is good to go, he is fine. That noodle arm business is not true

I remember way too many of those games against the Jets.

Two factors always came into play.

First the Jets were completed to running the ball and Pennington could get off good Play Action passes off of it.

Second L Coles was willing to catch slants over the middle which he would turn into a double route (slant in then slant out) and tended to catch one long TD a game against us.

Ahhh, I thought you were saying it was the tools around him with that line about Ginn. My mistake.

penny had to run 5 yards to throw it 40 yards. even i can throw a football 40 yards without having to run 5 yards.

He was avoiding a sack. Look at the replay. If he didn't run forward, he woulda been sacked
