Something I wanted to know. You see, as you guy already heard, Tim McGill was released and Shaw was signed in his place along with Cliff Russell. Now I'm not usually one to question Saban's latest move. But who do we have to back up Keith Traylor, now? Am I the only one concerned about this?

I guess you could say we have Carter, Holliday, and Manny Wright. Another question that I'd like to ask is why didn't we keep Shaw out of camp?

I could understand Wright, but the other two are too light for the role, no?

Well Carter was turned into a DT last year so I don't think so. On the other hand, no one on our roster will take up the space that Traylor takes up.

Shaw isn't a longterm answer. The bottom of our roster is weak and Saban understood that. He took advantage of a rare edge to sign players after the final cutdown date when we were #2 in the pecking order. Maybe McGill didn't work out, but I think the versatile offensive lineman we signed from Carolina, Joe Berger, is still on the roster. He reportedly has athletic ability and might be a factor next year or down the road.

That's one way to look at it. But if Shaw wasn't good enough then, I would have rather us sign some other player than resign Shaw.
