I know we've discussed this or JT or Madison or whoever possibly being traded / cut with Saban coming in and obviously Crowder will be a key LB in the future (barring injury)...anyways...here's a take from Palm Beach's blog....

"Don't think that Channing Crowder is logging double duty with the ones (weakside) and twos (middle) for no reason. The coaching staff knows that Zach Thomas has been labeled as a guy who breaks down late in the season. They're getting Channing ready for that, and possibly to take over at Mike should Zach find his way out of Miami after this season."

Thoughts? I think Seau is more likely out then Zach after this season (rather then both) but either way we'll need to continue to look and draft a LB next year.

I might get flamed but it is very possible... :couch:
If Crowder stays healthy, he very well could be a solid piece in our defense for years to come...

I think both will go and we with all of the talent we have at LB, I also believe that we will draft a LB w/ our 3rd or 4th round pick next year possibly.......

i think this could be Zach's last year.. we got very lucky getting a player of Channing's calibre in the 3rd round, we've just got to keep him healthy.

I too think we'll be picking up more players on D early in next years draft...

Unfortunately this might happen. Thomas is the heart of this D, but he does break down often and gets beat when covering a TE out of the Backfield or RB. Saban is rebuilding this D and how about that Donnie Spraghan? What a DEAL that looks to be. How about the kid from the JETS? Such a nobody I forgot his name.

I like the way this D is coming together.

I believe we could go for one as high as the 2nd... We will be targeting QB, DT, CB and LB with our top 3 picks... as long as Vernon Carey has a promising year at LT. If not, expect LB to drop in priority...

And to think... with all our offensive problems, the majority of our major holes are on defense...

there are 3 very good linebackers that could go early in the draft next year... Chad Greenway, AJ Hawk and Ahmad Brooks... we could be in a position to get one of those guys.

That's what Bates said just after last season....and that was with Pat....he must have had high optimism for the youngest Oline in the league, lol

I say you don't get rid of a Zack Thomas until you are sure he is done. As much promise as the other guys show, I can't imagine them being a force on nearly every play likes Zack seems to be.
