im sorry but there are many on this list that just shouldn't go in before Zach. im sorry but Seymour over Zach is mind blowing. I get he was a dlineman, but less than 60 sacks, and less than 500 tackles gets you into the hall? only 4 ff over a career. he has 80 less sacks the John Randell, tackles around the same, but 80 less sacks and 25 less Forced fumbles. shm… I don't get it. I could go on about others on this list but wont. its just sad seeing Zach not get the recognition he deserves. I know he wouldn't have gotten in this year bc of the guys that will, but he should atleast be a finalist.

I was just looking at all time stats and I don't know how Urlacher got in before Zach or even jesse tuggle. sack had 500 more combined tackles, and tuggle more than that. Zach is 5th all time in combined tackles. Brian and Zach are far apart on tackles, but brian and Zach are very similar in every other category. I just don't think Brian was a first ballot guy, and neither are some of the finalist this year. im not trying to be negative its just stats don't lie.

Much to my chagrin, I don't think Zach is making it in. Each year he becomes a longer and longer shot. Sad but true.

Doesn't deserve to be in the hall. Sorry, Dolfans.

What has Urlacher done better than Thomas to deserve that?

And can we remedy this somehow?

You can break down their careers into the numerical details. Thomas was in on 1,720 tackles, had 17 interceptions, 17 forced fumbles, 20.5 sacks and four touchdowns.

Urlacher was in on 1,353 tackles, had 22 interceptions, 12 forced fumbles, 40.5 sacks and two touchdowns.

So Thomas had nearly 400 more tackles. That’s about 25 percent more. Urlacher had 20 more sacks – virtually all of them in the first half of his career when he was used as a blitzing linebacker. They both had an exactly equal 34 on interceptions and forced fumbles.

So, again, why Urlacher and not Thomas?

The fact that ZT was the leader of a defense that seemed to falter when it counted every year and the resulting lack of postseason success holds him back imo. I still think he deserves it and hope to see him in the HOF someday.

If Zach would of played for one of the NFL Blue Bloods like Urlacher he would of been first ballot.

It's absolutely ridiculous he isn't even a finalist.

It's the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement for players. Not the enshrinement of guys who were on really good teams.

Thomas has numerous first team All-Pro appearances as well as a spot on the NFL's All-Decades team. Which was something the NFL actually put a lot of work into and tried to make a big deal. Guys who made those teams are proud of it.

Thomas has a resume worthy of the Hall of Fame, and I am hopeful that one day he will be there.
