My 53-man roster based on preseason and the coaches use of these players in the games:

QB - Tannehill, Moore, Devlin (3)

FB - Rodriguez (1)

RB - Miller, Thomas, Gray, Gillislee (4)

TE - Clay, Sims, Egnew (3)

WR - Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews, McNutt (5)

OL - Martin, Incognito, Pouncey, Jerry, Clabo, Garner, Samuda, Louis, Thomas (9)

DL - Wake, Vernon, Soliai, Odrick, Starks, Jordan, Shelby, Randall, Martin (9)

LB - Wheeler, Ellerbe, Misi, Trusnik, Spitler, Freeney, Jenkins (7)

DB - Grimes, Patterson, Jones, Clemons, Wilson, Carroll, Davis, Taylor (8)

Speacialists - P Fields, K Sturgis, KR/PR Thigpen, LS Denney (4)

Potential practice squad players - WR Fuller, WR Tyms, DL Robertson, DL Francis, DL Okpalaugo, LB Kaddu, LB Robinson, DB D. Jones or DB McCray (8)

Offenseive breakdown - I think Rodriguez gets the nod over Lane. Rodriguez has the versatility and speed to play H-Back whereas Lane is a true FB. At RB Miller an Thomas are a solid 1-2 punch at RB, but the depth is concerning. Gray has flashed but has not been consistent and Gillislee will take some time to develop. Clay will start at TE and don't be surprised if the coaches pick up another TE from someone else's cuts to add to the current mix. At WR I think the coaches prefer McNutt's size to Bumphis speed. Depth on the OL is a concern especially with Jerry, Garner, and Louis still working back from injuries. For this reason I think they need to keep enough depth in case one of those three cannot fully return from their injury.

Defensive breakddown - The Dolphins DL is fairly deep and I think that leaves Francis off the 53 man roster. Francis had a strong game against the Texans, but didn't flash much against the Buccaneers. At LB, depth could be an issue if one of the starters goes down. Trusnik is a strong Special Teamer, but he is an average backup LB at best. I would not be surprised to see a wavier-wire pick up to replace one of the three backups (Spitler, Freeney, and Jenkins). Miami is very thin at Safety as well and a wavier pick up for a backup Safety is likely as well. CB seems set with the hope that Taylor can get back into football shape fast and replace Carroll on the outside.

Week 1 rosters - This projection is based on what we've seen this preseason. The coaches seem high on some players that I know many of us would disagree on (McNutt, Carroll), but they have their reasons and we will see how it plays out. Like I said, the back end of the roster is subject to wavier claims so guys who could be on the outs after final cuts could be Devlin, Gray, Jenkins, and Rodriguez. We are paper thin at a lot of spots, so any major injuries to our starters could really affect our season.

Prediction - That all said, I believe our record hinges on the abilities of Tannehill. He showed this preseason that he has the smarts and abilities to be a great NFL QB, now he just needs to show that consistently. I think he can put it all together and with Miami's strong defense, Miami gets the 6th Wild Card spot at 10-6 this year.

I don't see why we keep Rodriguez at Full Back. Just put Clay there and get a veteran TE after cuts are made.

I agree with almost everything, although me personally i'm ready to see Kelcie McCray given Jimmy WIlson's spot as a backup safety and special teams ace. I also agree on us going 10-6. This is the year to capitalize on a very down AFC East. Jets Bills and Pats can only improve after this year..

A veteran TE would still need to learn the playbook and build rappore with Tannehill.
That said, I do expect Miami to pick up two or three guys after final cuts, so I could see them getting a TE and releaseing either Devlin or Rodriguez.

Is Kaddu still eligible for the practice squad? And Francis is going to get poached if he isn't on the 53

god if they keep 4 depth lbs given the way that group looks i'm gonna puke...

kaddu and jeff fuller are such wastes of time don't even give em a p squad spot if they are eligible...purge them from the building

Based on who is on roster now, I don't think ur prediction will be too far off. If they keep the numbers at each position u suggest I'd only really swap mcnutt for tymms.

After tomorrow and even more when we get to final cuts i think we may pick up a player or two, maybe 3. I'm not sold on gillislee or jonas gray, and think a rb could come in. I think an online vet perhaps and of course a TE is much needed.

A bit of depth at lb would be nice, though they seem to like Trusnik and Spitler based ST play. I think Freeney is fine as a backup and i like him betternthan any others we have. Jenkins has been a non factor though as just drafted should stick.

However, the question mark over do we keep 2/3 qbs? Do we keep a fullback or just use clay will have a bearing.

I'd take Joe McKnight or look for RB cuts from other rosters over Gray and Gillislie. They just don't have "it".

RB's don't need to be 'developed', you can either run as a rook or you can't. You can't keep a RB around just because he blocks well.

Looks about right except for whatever waiver moves are about to happen. I don't get the negativity about Rodriguez. From what I've seen this off season it looks like he can contribute nicely. Lane will be gone sadly and I can see Rodriguez filling that role with the ability to split out sometimes. I dig it.

5 WR ?that's a little thin even if we place a few guys on the PS.i wld like to see us snag Derick Rodgers from the Bills he was just cut.was in a bad numbers game there

drick rogers was cut??? that probably has more to do with the guys got so many skeletons in his closet it's not funny and a poor attitude and work ethic...no way philbin will touch him and bring him in this lockerroom...

I'm very intrigued by Evan Rodriguez

I agree with what you mentioned hoops, but these coaches seem to have hope for Kaddu and Fuller.
My projection is based off of these coaches’ tendencies, not necessarily who I think we should keep.

The coaches tend to keep players around that make us scratch our heads.

Only 2 safeties?? Not happening.

McCray is making it.
