Zona Looking At Matt Moore?

So u keep him because of the slight, slight off chance that we are in the middle of a playoff race and tanny gets injured, but only injured enough so he misses a game or two, against opponents that we would have no chance with devlin but a legitimate shot with Moore? And because of those essential, arbitrary, non-qualitative aspects a backup qb brings such as leadership, influence and whatever else you said

I'm gonna just say I disagree

like was said earlier, they offer a fourth and my erectiono is muy grande

So why would ANY team keep a backup QB?? NO NFL team is going to win a superbowl with their backup. ALL NFL teams are going to be unable to recover from losing their starting QB for the year. I guess by your logic you should only keep one QB, if he gets hurt just cancell all the rest of the games?? Brilliant!!

Trading your BACKUP QB tells the rest of the team that you're in a rebuilding year? Are you even reading what you're saying?

Come on that can't be over even YOUR head. YES, if you trade talent that you don't replace at a position as important as QB, yes that is sending a message to your team. Come on, pay attention!!

You had a somewhat reasonable argument until here. If I'm reading this correctly (and I am because it's how it is written), you are saying that the AJ Feeley trade set some kind of precedent. It didn't. We got absolutely hosed in that trade. Literally one of the worst trades in Dolphins history. Feeley was worth a 7th at best. Moore, being a better QB, is therefore worth about a 4th MAX (5th being more realistic), which we would be insanely lucky to get midseason at the end of his contract.

Less than a third and player? Fantasy land. Don't get me wrong, I would take that in a heartbeat, but it ain't happenin'. A 4th round pick (or 5th or 6th) are more valuable to a team long run than a good backup QB for half a season. It's not even close.

First off, it isn't like Moore is 100% gone next year. He could resign. Unless he gets a deal where he is going to be giving the keys to a starting gig, (which isn't going to happen) he will not be given starting money to go elsewhere. Jeff will give him a chance to test the waters and then offer him reasonable backup money. If not we will have to bring in someone else or waste a draft pick on someone not as good of a backup as Moore. If we trade Moore for a 5th and then use a 5th to replace him we are where we started at, and with a worse player.

This really isn't brain surgery. YOU HAVE TO REPLACE TALENT WITH TALENT!!! Moore is the perfect backup who might have just came to grips with the idea that he isn't going to be a starter in this league. If that is the case what better position could you be in than sitting in the passerger seat behind RT.

Seriously do you see us picking up anyone in next years draft with a 5th rd pick that would be as good a backup as Moore?? WOW!!

I think your missing the point. These guys are operating on the assumption that Devlin is ready to be a back up.

I dont trust Devlin as a backup yet, and we are in the playoff hunt, meaning, we need 2 QB's so i don't think we should trade him unless we can get a 1 or a 2, something we ARE NOT GETTING.

If we do trade him, I'd rather it be for depth than a draft pick... I havent looked through Arizona's roster but Im pretty sure we could get a decent backup at either CB, WR, T or safety. Maybe even somewhat of a pass rush specialist who's not a complete player yet...

The fact that you said you would want ARIZONAS BACKUP TACKLES absolutely murders your post because it makes it look like you're not familiar with the team, whatsoever.

Most NFL teams have their backup in contract for more than a single season, and their backups are typically not worth draft picks.

The situations are entirely different.

We did replace talent with talent. We upgraded Matt Moore with Ryan Tannehill. That showed that we didn't believe he was a capable starter and capable of leading this this team. That didn't seem to have this awful affect on our team SOMEHOW. SOMEWAY. Oh my god! It's almost as if you're making things up! Noooo that couldn't be it!

The fact that you don't think Matt Moore is gone blows my mind. The fact that there is a team out there WILLING TO TRADE FOR HIM tells you that his market is higher than Miami will pay him. They are not going to match the offer he'll get elsewhere, an offer which will likely include a situation that doesn't involve a rookie quarterback who is playing incredibly well, and is cementing his spot as a starter for multiple years.

The fact that you don't think he's automatically gone tells me all I need to know about your thought process behind this entire scenario.

Get a 4th or 5th for him and run away as fast as you can as you laugh at the Cards

Zona's backup tackles? Good lord, I wouldn't give their starters a job as our backups

well to be fair, one of their starters is actually good but has been out for awhile with injury. The backup has been starting.

With that said, no thanks. They currently have the worst tackle combo in the NFL over the past decade

You lack basic logic and comprehension, so maybe try not to be a condescending ******* with "that can't be over even YOUR head." If you're on the forums and can't spot the crazy person then... guess what!?!

WOW, can't believe I am going to try this again. The highlighted portion of your post kinda lets the cat out of the bag. A) we don't know that any team IS willing to trade for him, B) if a team IS willing to trade for him I guess that proves the 2nd part of the statement WRONG. Last time I checked he was still on the MIAMI roster, not Zona's or any other team.

Whadda lets say, we just let the future decide who is right or wrong. I say Jeff won't accept any offers less than a 3rd, and he will be on the DOLPHIN'S roster at the end of the year. Now you say THERE IS A TEAM out there trying to trade for him (your words) guess we can just sit back and see who is right.

Moore doesn't fit the West Coast offense. The Seahawks will probably cut Matt Flynn next year, he'll be our backup.

On a side note, I was once told to never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Not intended to anyone in particular, it just came to mind...

Were you looking in a mirror at the time?

Idk if I'd trade him unless a team offered a decent draft pick in return.

I can't imagine us getting more than a 5th or 6th rounder for him and I don't think I'd do that, but I guess it all depends on whether or not what you get in return is better than the downgrade from Moore to Devlin as a backup for the rest of the season. For me, I don't think a late round pick would be, especially with us looking like we could possibly challenge for a playoff spot this year.

You guys also have to remember that if we lose him to free agency, it doesn't mean we lose him for nothing. We have a lot of players on our team coming up for free agency this year so I don't know how active we will be in free agency, which means Moore leaving via free agency may result in a compensatory pick in the 2014 draft.
