Good evening everyone...

Here are some performance stats that may show how well each team's Offensive and Defensive units have performed since the start of the season...

Based this analysis by Points Scoring and Points Allowed per "Plays-on-the-field"...

Looking at the numbers and teams, we could've been 6-5, as well as 3-8 this season. Somehow we are at the top of the lower 2/3...

I used the following legend:

Plays/PS = Used combined Offensive Pass Attempts, Rushing Attempts and divided them by Points Scored...

Plays/PA = Used combined Defensive Pass Attempts Allowed, Rushing Attempts Allowed and divided them by Points Allowed...

Record Team Plays/PS, Plays/PA, Variable

11-0 Indianapolis 1.9, 3.4, 1.5

9-2 Denver 2.2, 3.2, 1

9-2 Seattle 2.1, 2.9, 0.8

8-3 Chicago 3.2, 5, 1.8

8-3 Carolina 2.2, 3.1, 0.9

8-3 Cincinnati 2.2, 2.9, 0.7

8-3 Jacksonville 2.6, 3.0, 0.4

7-4 NY Giants 2.0, 3.0, 1

7-4 Pittsburgh 2.4, 3.3, 0.9

7-4 San Diego 1.9, 2.7, 0.8

7-4 Atlanta 2.3, 2.7, 0.4

7-4 Dallas 2.6, 3, 0.4

7-4 Kansas City 2.4, 2.6, 0.2

7-4 Tampa Bay 2.7, 2.8, 0.1

6-5 New England 2.4, 2.3, -0.1

6-5 Minnesota 2.9, 2.5, -0.4

5-6 St Louis 2.1, 1.9, -0.2

5-6 Philadelphia 2.7, 2.4, -0.3

5-6 Washington 2.9, 2.6, -0.3

4-7 Cleveland 3.3, 3.3, 0

4-7 Miami 3.1, 3, -0.1

4-7 Oakland 2.5, 2.4, -0.1

4-7 Detroit 3.4, 2.7, -0.7

4-7 Buffalo 3.5, 2.6, -0.9

3-8 Tennessee 2.6, 2, -0.6

3-8 Arizona 2.9, 1.9, -1.0

3-8 New Orleans 3.4, 2, -1.4

3-8 Baltimore 4.4, 2.6, -1.8

2-9 Green Bay 2.7, 2.7, 0

2-9 San Francisco 2.9, 2, -0.9

2-9 NY Jets 3.7, 2.6, -1.1

1-10 Houston 3, 1.9, -1.1

Offensive median of 31 NFL teams is 2.6...

Defensive median of 31 NFL teams is 2.7...

Stats show we are slightly below average in both areas (O and D), but Offensively, we have 22 other teams that, IMO, have shown better production than ours, and Defensively IMO, we have done better, against scoring, than 21 teams...

I know we keep saying that stats don't show the true picture of execution, but somehow in this analysis, it shows why this team was close to not loosing a few games, and other team's possibly not being as good as they picture to be...;)

Mods can move this where it seems fit...

Hope you enjoyed it...

I enjoyed it. I dont feel like expending the brain energy this late at night to fully understand it though. How does the defense come up with a score of -.1 by dividing plays against by score allowed?

Glad you enjoyd it :D

The last numbers (-0.1), is the variable between the Offensive Scoring and the Defensive Scoring Allowed.

This number can be looked at 2 ways, it can tell me that the D is letting the opponents score in few plays less than the O does, or if the O is not scoring enough and putting the D in a hole. You can look at the median (average) and get an idea of which unit is doing worst.
