Let me start by saying is there any way this kid falls to us at 32? Depending on where you look he is either rated fairly highly and going mid-late first round, or on the contrary not even in the top 5 cornerbacks or first round at all. Which is it stud or dud? I'm leaning toward stud.

Antoine Cason

I really like Antoine Cason. When I watched his highlight real I came away thinking that he reminded me a lot of Asante Samuel. The kid just looks like he can flat out play. He seems very fluid in the way he moves, looks like he can tackle well, firey, and I love his hands. The kid is a football player! Ok, I know it is a highlight reel... :)

So I know most people are thinking OL or LB with the 2a pick, but just to mix things up, why not Cason? Assuming he falls to 32, would Parcell's consider taking a CB?

He ranked third on the team with a career-high 71 tackles (56 solos), including a 6-yard sack and four stops for losses of 12 yards…Caused two fumbles and deflected a team-high fourteen passes…ranked second in the league with five interceptions…

Cason, who had 15 interceptions at UA and was named the top defensive back in the country after the season...

He was knocked for not necessarily being fast enough, but turned in solid times at the combine.

Additionaly, he returned kicks. So this makes me think if he IS there at 32 this only increases his chances. We all know how Bill is building this team with special teams first, and this kid could contribute on both defense and special teams.

I also found this article to be a nice read:
http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/prospects/antoine_cason.html
In it they mention he could possibly be a little more disciplined and could add a some weight. Que Parcells and Sparano. Don't think we would have an issue in those 2 departments.

I went ahead and attached the other top corners highlight reels, but I personally didn't come away with the same excitement I did after Cason's.

All that being said, I would love to hear you thoughts. Especially CK and Boom! ;)

i like cason too and dont see him falling. IMO he is one of those top tier CB's just above porter and flowers.

I have watched a lot of Univ. of Arizona games.....Cason doesn't have the best speed in the world but he covers guys very well....and he is good at breaking up passes and will get some nice picks. He also tackles well for a CB. I think he would be a nice pickup at #32, depending on who is still left on the board.

it all depends what we do with our first pick:

Chris Long: then i hope Cherilus or if a Better OT falls
Jake Long: then i could see best CB (cason porter or one that falls)
Matt Ryan: could go with BPA

i really see chris long, and cherilus and then best CB avail with 2b pick or BPA there and CB with 3

CB??? Dude, MIA pretty much focused FA on defense. MIA's first day of the draft would no doubt be QB and two OL. Maybe, they use pick #57 on a LB/CB, maybe...but most likely BP/JI grabs his starting QB, LT, and LG with its first 3 picks.

i dont agree with you. our biggest needs are OT, CB, and LB. We will adress whichever side of the ball has the best value player at the position. I think CB will be a 2nd rounder (ahead of a QB) OT will be a 1st or 2nd rounder (2a hopefully)

we did focus alot on defense in FA but most of it was depth, which we needed. only starters i see are torbor ILB, ferguson NT, Starks DE. All the others are depth unless i am forgeting somone. we got smiley RG, Wilford WR as starters on offense. i see our biggest needs are on both sides of the ball and we wont just adress on side of the ball on the first day picks unless they are the BPA at the time in a position of need (which i doubt). that would be stupid.

he is a good player, however Id rather have the best safety in the draft,Kenny Philips,at 32

In my mock before the draft I had us taking him with our 2b. He has def skyrocketed since then. With that said I don't think he is worth more than a 2nd rounder so at 32 maybe. It depends who we take #!. If we go Jake Long #! then I think there is a case for him at 32 if he is there because we def need a starting CB with potential. If we go anywhere else that isn't an OT at #!, then there is no case for anyone at 32 but an OT, with us only having 2 on the roster and only one of those is a starting caliber. Check out my 3rd rounder and you might get excited.
PS: If you are going to copy and paste articles, at least make it all the same font ;)

U had him 2B then he skyrocketed? I think u have it backwards . . . he was considered a first rounder since the 2008 draft . . . as high as a top 10 pick . . . . and he has faltered a bit due to the crazy combines of Mcklevin and DRC . . . . but he never I don't think was considered a 2B prospect . . . until maybe recently . . . and even though I have him going there with my 2B pick in my DREAM mock . . . I honestly don't think he will even be there at 32.

Like someone else said . . . he doesn't have that TOP end speed, kind of like Revis from the Jets . . . but he can cover as good as any CB in this draft . . . and he knows what to do with the football when he gets it.

However to get Cason, we have to select Jake Long . . . selecting Jake Long first just gives us so many options . . . u know one of those top tier prospects will fall to 32 . . . whether Groves or Cason or a big name WR . . . I sure want the luxury of picking one of those guys up, instead of settling for a Sam Baker or a Carl Nicks because we didn't go OT in round 1.

he is a good player, however Id rather have the best safety in the draft,Kenny Philips,at 32

We have some safety depth now with Jason Allen, Bell and Hill . . . and some more people, I guess Daniels, Worrell . . . I mean its not that exciting, but there is obviously MORE pressing needs.

Somebody is going to fall to the 32nd that should have been a 1st rounder and fell for no bad reason. I agree 100% if we take J.Long 1st overall it opens up our 32nd pick to BPA not just the next available OT. That would equal two impact players instead of one impact player and the 5th/6th best OT. That makes the overall draft depth better for us and we NEED the best draft we could possibly have.

Copying this from a post I had on a similar topic:

"Sorry a couple other things to say about Cason.

Watching the video again, you can see that once he gets the INT, he could easily score. It could be from him returning punts, but he can make people miss like Ed Reed after an interception. Pick six

And did you see the last play? People say he doesn't have speed. He was on the UA track team, ran a combine 4.49, and was on Desean Jackson's hip on that fade route. He is a gamer

Oh and Flowers could be the league's best 3rd CB, with his ability to blitz and pick up the run so effectively"

I like Cason at #32 but I don't think it matters who we take at #1. We are in talent acquisition mode. That means we're taking the best player and not reaching for positions.
