Been seeing alot of mocks that have the Phins either in later rounds 5-6th.

Stanzi out of Iowa which most of us know and Enderle out of Idaho

Thoughts on drafting either?

Overview:
Ricky Stanzi can be a very impressive QB at times and then other times looks awful. He has all the tools you look for in a QB. He has the size, experience, plays in an pro-style system, he has a decent arm, he’s a good leader etc. If he puts all of these together CONSISTENTLY he’ll be a much better player. His biggest problem is inconsistency. His footwork is inconsistent, his accuracy is inconsistent, he stares down his WR’s sometimes while other times doing a great job to look off the safety and going through his reads. He’s improved a lot in his Senior year and he has climbed up draft boards. He has a shot at being a starter in the NFL.
Scouting Report:
Positives
- 3 year starter
- Plays in pro-style offense
- Great size
- Great leader and confidence
- Decent arm strength
- Capable of making NFL caliber throws
- Nice throwing motion
- Good mobility in the pocket to buy some extra time
- Keeps his eyes down field
- Does well to step up in the pocket at times
- Outstanding thrower on the run
- Knows when to zip passes and throws a very catchable ball
- Good play fakes
- Shows the ability to go through his progressions and read defenses as well as audible
- Clutch
Negatives
- Inconsistent
- Inconsistent with his footwork and leads to bad intermediate accuracy
- Doesn’t always step into his throws
- Doesn’t have a good feel for pressure yet, will scramble when he doesn’t have too
- Holds the ball too long and takes unnecessary sacks
- Occasionally stares down his WR
- Needs to do a better job of looking off the safety and going through his progressions
- Needs to make smarter decisions and have less turnovers

No problem drafting Stanzi (watched every Iowa game being an Iowa fan) not the strongest arm. Reminds me of Chad Pennington a little especially his floating deep ball. Note that Stanzi report was before the season. He improved in accuracy and decision making drastically his senior year and was one of the highest rated QBs in college because of it.

Nathan Enderle Scouting Report

Height: 6’4
Weight: 240
College: Idaho
40 Time: 5.00
Class: Senior
Stock:
Projected: 6th-FA
Stats
2010 – 269/476, 56.5%, 3292 yards, 6.9 YPA, 22 TD’s, 16 INT’s
2009 – 192/312, 61.5%, 2906 yards, 9.3 YPA, 22 TD’s, 9 INT’s
2008 – 184/339, 54.3%, 2077 yards, 6.1 YPA, 20 TD’s, 17 INT’s
2007 – 132/298, 44.3%, 1787 yards, 6.0 YPA, 10 TD’s, 18 INT’s
Overview:
If you’re looking for a late-round sleeper QB prospect, Nathan Enderle is your guy. He had a great Junior season but followed it up with a poor Senior year. The talent on his team did drop off and Enderle was not able to get back on track. He has all of the tools to be a great NFL QB, he just needs to be coached up because his technique needs some work. I think if he was surrounded by better talent, he would be pretty successful.
Scouting Report:
Positives
- Prototypical size
- 4 year starter, very experienced
- Takes a lot of snaps from under center
- Shows the ability to read defenses pre-snap and make checks at the line
- Does a good job of going through his progressions
- Clean release
- Stands tall in the pocket under pressure
- Will take a hit to make the throw
- Does a good job of feeling pressure
- Gets rid of the ball on time
- Solid arm, can make every throw
- Flashes great accuracy but needs to be more consistent
- Throws well on the run
- Was not surrounded by a lot of talent at Idaho
Negatives
- Footwork needs work in the pocket
- Gets happy feet when no one is open
- Drop back isn’t smooth and needs refinement
- Throws off balance too much and it hinders his accuracy
- Struggles with ball placement at times
- Tries to thread the needle too much
- Floats the deep ball a lot
- Not the best athlete
- Won’t be a threat to pick up yards with his legs

Neither of these guys are going to be starting caliber quarterbacks at the next level.

I like Enderle as a pocket passer in round 5, that junior season is enticing. Stanzi is going to be such a cool pick for some team that doesnt throw him to the lions. in like 2 or 3 years i think well see him on the field somewhere. that whole inconsistancy thing though, it screams henne ya know?

He's no longer inconsistent.

He's no longer inconsistent.

Mayock said he still doesn't trust him in the 4th quarter ala chad henne.. this was during the deep ball drills at the combine

also thats a paradox if the one thing he was consistantly was inconsistant and now he's no longer inconsistant that would make him inconsistant no?

stanzi reminds me of brady for some reason (no im not saying he will end up like brady)

People said the same thing about Tom Brady. How many of you on this board were all-star job candidates at 22 years of age, fresh out of college? Just because a guy is not a first-round pick coming out of college does not mean that there is no chance of him turning into a great QB (Indeed, as much as saying this causes a little bit of vomit to come up into my mouth, Brady is not just a great QB, but one of the all-time greats...if Stanzi ends up even just 75% as good as Brady is right now, he'll be a very good QB and possibly the top QB of the 2011 draft class much like Brady is now the top QB of the 2000 draft class despite going in the sixth round).

Take another look at Stanzi here:

Junior year he was inconsistent. In his senior year he was consistently good. Also he has ice running through his veins and is definitely the most clutch QB in this class. He led a lot of 4th quarter comebacks junior and senior year. And he's an American.
