Building a Team... Harris Pick

Do some of you realize he was tasked to play in a read-and-react defense for part of his collegiate career? NOT a pin your ears back and get the QB?

You guys know that our scouts, GM, and coaches got to see his tape also -- right?

Conventional thinking says that because the NFL is a passing league, you hav to stop the pass...and the way you begin do that is with a pass rush. What they don't tell you about conventional thinking is that it once said the world is flat.

A good/great QB/OC combo will exploit one trick ponies like Harris by either rarely allowing the down and distance to get into a passing situation, or putting him in uncomfortable situations...like trying to defend the run while our DE is getting punished.

Hell...Harris may even quit on us a couple of games.

And he may grow a horn out of the center of his head....

We get it, you don't like this pick. Several others on the boards with a pretty good history of knowing a little about football don't like it either. That's ok. In a year or two, we'll know who was right. But at some point in the process, you have to ask how so many kids get picked in the wrong place in the draft year after year despite millions being on the line and the only conclusion you can come to it's more or less a crapshoot once you get past the basic scouting process.

Some people have a decent amount of projections, that have bear fruit.

Until any Miami FO gets it right consistently, any objection to their judgments is justified. In my opinion.

Oh well it is what it is.
