This thread is for Press Coverage, with the season winding down, I think we're all interested if you are going to have the same kind of breaking Dolphins news coverage and information like you did last season with the leak on Poole's knee injury and such. Maybe some Free Agent news and such. I am sure we're all looking forward to it.. :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins:

not likely, but thanks... i got fired for blogging that stuff.... even though that information did NOT come from my employer, nor anyone i work with...

honestly, when i was told about the Poole thing, i was just looking for confirmation that it was a severe injury by posting here... when no one seemed to know anything about it, i realized i had let the cat out of the bag... as if anything i hinted about cost the "S-S" any money... it's highly debatable... a poll i later created on here suggested $4 worth of S-S issues were avoided after reading my posts...

http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=83714&highlight=question

so i mailed them a check for $4, so they'd feel better... i rather promoted the stories, not undermined them... regardless, they saw to it to call my employer and have me ousted without any warning... as for my employer? "sports editors" in name only...

but, no one can question my level of Dolphin fan-dom... (if that's a word)... ;)

it's ok however... i loathed the sports "journalism" industry, and have moved on to much better things that i would not have discovered without this change...

We appeciated it while it lasted. It's interesting that they prowl here, looking for tidbits. We do have one sportsbeat writer that stops by now and then and ocassionally posts but I didn't think it was a wide practice

Gad, I remember the initial Poole thread post minicamp, but I never saw that thread you linked here and had no idea you were fired for posting something. Talk about childish and petty. That's worse than when I got fired from a sportsbook after telling one of our regular customers that he was taking lousy future odds and he would be better off wagering on them across the street. He thanked me profusely but somehow the management liked the idea of a big square who took 10/1 when everyone else had 20/1 or higher.

PressCoverage, you're like the USFL with the $4 reimbursement. That was the NFL's exact compensation after the famous trial in the mid '80s. Jurors awarded $1 damages to the USFL but it was automatically quadrupled to $4. I think they cut a check but it never cashed and is displayed in the Hall of Fame, or elsewhere.

That's great you found something better. Also that we cashed on the Dolphins over the season win total. Next year will be more like 7.5 or 8, perhaps even 8.5 depending on our final two games and the draft/schedule.

as I remember you were treated rather badly too. It embarrassed me at the time, as for better things. I was told once that for every door that closes two will open if only you will look.

no big deal... but thanks

my editors at my paper were in bed with the paper in question... still are, and i hear thru the grapevine that one company may buy the other... thus, you know, any "threat" to that harmonious corporate synergy must be purged...

it's all a big attempt to squeeze the Palm Beach Post... at which they are failing, miserably... in terms of content, anyhow... but then, newspapers don't care much about news content... it's all about advertising dollars and revenue...

they do a pretty good job of covering local history.

Wow, a lot has happened. i remember that post you made about poole and how we all got on you thinking you were "B.S. ing" us. Then when I realized it was true... new respect for a new poster! But I didn't realize you got canned over it and I missed your poll until I just read it now.

As for that, nobody can question your level of Dolphandom that's true!
And most of all, I'm glad you moved on to a career you like better. Sounds like you landed on your feet. Good man!
So what did you move on to? I'll check the rest of the thread to see if you already posted. If not, let us know if you want to (sorry for prying, I'm just interested in how you bounced!

Well, I certainly hate to hear that you were let go, but, I hope you're off to bigger and better things and you'll forever have the respect of the people here at finheaven. $4 you say? Man, if we had everyone at finheaven donate .0000000001 cent we could cover that for you man.. :-)

Take care and Merry Christmas...
