Charles Clay not a Starting TE

God forbid they take a physical specimen like Sims and turn him into an immediate impact player like some other teams have been known to do. Yet we're still dikin around with a marginal hback trying to play tightend.
 
Clay needs to be developed as a FB and THAT'S IT. As a FB I think he would be fine. Although he may not have the low center of gravity that some of the greats have had, he is pretty serviceable.
 
completely agree.... he's dropped on the depth chart... very inconsistent...
 
At this point if a gem doesn't fall into our laps I'd say our best bet is to go with the best blocker, which would be Sims. He may not be there completely as a receiver yet, but at least he can contribute something right away.
 
I was more disappointed that they didn't give Egnew more of an opportuntiy. Nor, did they target him nearly as much as they targeted Clay!
