According to Peter King, who was citing the Boston Globe, the Patriots and Charlie Weis are at an impasse. Weis wants to be paid like a top assistant, and the Patriots aren't budging. So Weis plans to coach out the season, and move on in 2005.

Not that I'm cheering against Wannstedt and/or Foerster, but Charlie Weis for Phins head coach or offensive coordinator in 2005 wouldn't be a bad plan if things don't work out.

In my opinion, Weis would be a big gamble as head coach. I wouldn't want him. The Patriots are successful because of excellent execution by the players. Brady is a master of the short pass, and their WR's run excellent routes. He simply has players that execute under pressure. The Patriots must agree, and seem willing to let him go.
