I've seen that hypothesis, but never seen evidence to support it.

Me neither. Maybe just a rumor. Both our starting edge rushers probably won't be back till mid season. We need to resign him. Tua needs to prove he can connect with a second and third read before giving him 50 mill per year. Give him a 5th year option and resign your other stars.

No sense giving a player 50 mill a year you are not sure of and then other positions weakens.

Hopefully this doesn't become another tannehill debacle.

Robert Jones IMO was one of our best five linemen last year -- in no particular order Armstead, Hunt, Jackson, Williams with Jones being fifth. His play was worthy of being a starter last year even though he didn't start at the beginning of the year. With the budget crunch you need cheap options starting at some positions and he fills that need.
