Dolphins | Taking RB in early rounds unlikely
Thu, 27 Apr 2006 12:46:40 -0700
Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports a <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl">Miami Dolphins team source has said it's unlikely that the team will draft a running back in the first, third or fourth rounds because there are too many needs at other positions. However, Miami could select a running back with one of their three seventh-round picks or look to acquire one via free agency.

I saw that. Its probably a good idea not to spend a high draft choice
on a RB because we have other needs. But to get one as DEPTH in the
draft or free agency as an INSURANCE policy is a good idea...

But who really knows what Saban will do. He's not gonna give away his strategy either....

I'm cool with that idea. We do have a lot of posititons to fill and not enough picks. There is a lot of depth at RB in this draft. Does anyone know of some solid 7th round picks out there?

Gerald Riggs Jr. from tennessee

yea it would be completely ridiculous to draft a rb in the first round when we already have ronnie the #2 overall pick last year and when we could use the help at other positions...im not buying into that we are desperate for a running back because all we need is a solid back up running back its not like we are in the running for a new starting running back its not like many teams in the nfl have that many great back up running backs

drafting a running back is absurd, just like greg cote.

Why? The article says he would probably take one in the 7th round..
Drafting a RB in the 7th is " absurd" ????

a 7th round RB is definitely a good idea. Little risk because we have 3 players, and Saban will pick a guy with potential. Was not Willie parker a 6th round pick or so?
