Gator Bowl

So you can say with full confidence that it had to be a WVU fan? and you can say with full confidence it wasnt a local who could have hated GT that could have done that...

 Without a doubt. I realize you're just trying to protect your fellow fans, but it's so obvious, even if I hadn't been there.
I sent the pictures to my friend, who sat next to me, and showed them to my wife, who was also there, and both swear it was the same guy we saw escorted out a little later in the game. He was leaving with his buddy, who I know was a WV fan.

And, no one hates Tech. Hell even Georgia fans just see them like their little brother; annoying, but not good enough to hate.

Hey Flounder! Was there any couch burning?

Seriously, can you explain how that tradition started? I just don't get it.

Im not entirley sure, but from my understanding.... It was about 4 years ago and we beat the #2 team in the country Virginia Tech at there own home in blacksburg. So fans up in Morgantown decidied they had to burn something. So why not a couch that somebody sat on the side of the road to be put in the trash dump? Now this has been done numerous times, when we went to the final 4 in basketball 2 years ago, etc...

"where greatness is learned, and couches and burned"

I guess its just something to do, while people in columbus catch cars on fire after they win, we do that to couches

what reasons have you heard?

My friend told me a funny story about the gator bowl, he said they went to a bar down there. and he asked for a beer. he told them they were out of beer. the "wvu" people drank all of them, and he went on to say this is the first time since i've worked here that we've ran outa beer quicker than liquor here..lol

how loud were we at the game anyways?

I've only heard stupid stuff that people just made up.

I'm not surprised about the beer story. WV was there x10 over GT fans, and they were hammerd! As you saw with the pooper.

You guys were very loud considering the stands weren't close to being full, and a somewhat split crowd. You guys were flat out silent until the 3rd quarter though.

I could only immagine. I knew our secondary sucked. and i figured they were going to have a field day with our secondary. I didnt expect the first play of the game to be owen schmitt (FB) up the middle for a 50 yard gain though..lol

It wasn't just the secondary though. GT ran the ball very effectively. You guys stopped the run for a series or two in the 3rd quarter, and then they abandoned it. Though to run when you can pass so well, but that was the turning point, IMO.

I think our defense sucks though. Hopefully after this season they just had. They'll get better and play for a National Title, our schedule surely would allow us to play in it , if we could only win out and do it pretty easily. Its not impossible by any means

First of all, from looking at those pics ... it's only someone's word that he took a dookie in the stands. The pics show someone rising from a seat wearing his pants in a "sag" ... there is absolutely no evidence of fecal material.

As for the references to drunken WVU fans ... :chuckle: ... yeah, that's us.

To be honest, I don't clearly remember why, or when it began ... but I know that it was a hell of a lot longer than 4 years ago. A law was actually passed either last year or two years ago in Mo-town, banning couches from porches. Get caught with a couch on your porch, lose the couch and pay a fine. Real shame too ... fine way to spend a fall evening after stomping an opponent ... kick back in the breeze with a cold one.

Oh, also we only made it to the Elite Eight that year.

Correct, we played louisville, up by as much as 30. Let them comeback and win it...Pathetic

I was just saying that the upset against VT, thats as far back as i can remebmer hearing about it

Well, he did get tossed from the game not too long after that. He was seat just about 10-15 rows down, and the seats between weren't exactly full. I can tell you that there wasn't any fighting or disorderly behavior later that caused it. I think he very likely was tossed for the alleged incident. It wasn't for being drunk either, because there was a ton of drunken fans around us.
