I have been a long time finheaven reader. Wanted to save my first thread for something really special and this is it. When I started dating my girlfriend four months ago she asked me what game I was most excited about. I told her that the Patriots in December at home with everything on the line would be the one. Two weeks later she suprised me with two tickets to that game as an early 30th birthday present, its Dec 5th!

Needless to say I am completely jacked up. I have been a fin fan in the northwest since I started watching football more than 15 years ago. I catch alot of flak around here, even when we are doing well. But I wear my colors proudly every week! I have just a few questions that I was hoping I might get some help with. We are staying in Bal Harbour. It says its midway between ft. lauderdale and miami. We are not renting a car and were wondering what the different options would be for getting to the stadium. I assume that a taxi fare would be high.

But more importantly what are going to be the more exciting things to do while we are in the area? Such as local bars or parties after our victory. Tailgates before the victory? Things of that nature. Any ideas or suggestions would be most apperciated.

I am more excited about this vacation and game than I can put into words. I'm sure you can all imagine just HOW much! I plan on buying a wes welker jersey before I go, that guys heart is big enough to pump the blood for three men.

On another side note. As soon as Im back from Miami I plan on going to Iowa for Christmas to ask my girlfriends father for his permission to marry her. Any girl cool enough to do this is one in a million. She's become quite the little dolphins fan herself in four short months. She still like those darn seahawks though. Im working on it....

Thanks in advance!

bro congrats man listen while your down hit up the seminole hard rock casino man you can gamble and drink and hit the clubs bro we always tailgate man so stop on by east 23

good luck, what a game to go 2. Hopefully we keep winning and the game has an electric feel. Sorry I can't give you much advice since I have only been to 2 dolphin games in Miami. I can tell you where not to stay. LOL I have seen others say that you want to be in the Ft. Laud area. I may get flammed for this but Miami itself is getto as hell. I have stayed downtown both times and will never do it again. South Beach is ok. That was really the only place I had fun. It doesn't have anything to do with sports but the Clevlander (sp?) right off the beach was a cool place. When your done putting the drinks back you can cross the street and be on the beach.

Good luck, sounds like you found a keeper. If she has a sister let me know.:D

Congrats on your trip Seattlefinfan...pretty funny you catch flak from those tree hugging Seattleites, doesn`t surprise me though! Hell with them, unfortunately I`ve been to way too many Seaduck games in my life, and their fans are the worst imo. Last I checked their record was about the same as ours, and they still have those zero SB titles. Have fun in Fla, I`d love to give you some tips, but I`ve only ever seen the `Phins out West (SD, LA, Anaheim, Oakland, Seattle).

Are you saying that the whole city of Miami is ghetto, and when you say ghetto does that mean people are trying to sell you worn sneakers or what do you define as ghetto?

I am also from wash state and a huge finsfan. i won a pair of plane tickets in a local radio contest, back in '98, to anywhere delta flies. My obvious choice was miami to see Marino and the fins play. I was like a kid on xmas for 5 days while in miami. got to meet some current and past players at autographs signings around town. the plane ride sucked but i would do every week if i had to.

yo man, thats a sick bday present, enjoy the game, it will be the game that we get r 6th straight victory, hopefully i will be lucky enough to have a girlfriend that is a football fan like urs.

Fort Lauderdale and Miami are both awesome. In my experiences I'd say if you are looking more for a "bar" type atmosphere, head to Fort Lauderdale. Check out Las Olas or the Riverfront. If you're looking for the "club" atmosphere then head down to Miami.

Last I knew, the team stays at the Renaissance Hotel. We went there once and ALL the team members were coming in and going down quite a long line of fans there in the lobby of the hotel signing autographs and talking to people. It was VERY awesome. I would highly recommend it. I also agree about going to the Hard Rock Casino. It's quite nice. I would also recommend that you NOT go or stay in Miami proper. LOTS of tailgating going on pre-game and everyone is extremely friendly and offer up all their good grillin' food. Have a great time! :dolphins:

I'll be going down for that game as well. Is it me or do Miami fans travel very well? Are other teams like this? Every week I see threads about people traveling down to the games from far away. And I've been to the Phinz game when they play the Jets up here and there is always a large number of Phin fans. It's always a great feeling.

Plus the beaches, the nightlife, the DOLPHINS! Weather is great... Now this is what I call a vacation!

Hard Rock is your best bet unless you want something on the beach. Plus, it's close to the stadium being right off the turnpike.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I will check out that tailgate in lot 23 for sure. I am getting more excited about this trip by the second. I have been to Miami proper and maybe its because I was 15 at the time, but it seemed like a place I might not vacation in. And to that one guy...she does have a sister but shes fifteen so no dice.

Have a great time Seattlefinfan. I too am going to my first Dolphins game in December and I cannot put into words how anxious I am. Have a great time.

I have info on Dolphins stuff to do, but not much outside of that unless you want to ask for something specific.

The team hotel is in a nice location and it's in good shape, but it's expensive in December like most hotels during season. I recommend staying in the Davie/Plantation area, or on the beach in Fort Lauderdale at the Yankee Trader or Yankee Clipper.
