I am not a sanchez homer cause he does not have all the tools! But like in that movie any given sunday! The quarterback is the top spot! And sanchez handles that well..We lost woody in the offseason and mangold was injured in that game.He did his job! Like in the playoff's!

What tools would he be missing?

Somewhere down South with a 2-0 record each. Theres a reason why Henne has been passing so much after an off season where Dolphins spent a lot of draft value to shore up their running game.

Sanchez deserves a lot of the heat he gets, but he does not deserve heat for losing AFCCGs because he has performed very well in both games even outplaying Roethlisberger by a clear margin. The Jets defense was really the culprit in both losses ironically.

Why not? After Henne's 416 yard 3 TD performance against NE week 1, I was told by a Jet fan that leading your offense to just 17 points was only ok. Sanchez led his O to just 14 points against Indy in 09 AFCC game, and only 17 against Pitt in 10 AFCC game.

30 of 49 for 416 yards and 2tds (1 rushing) equals ok.

17 of 30 for 257 yards and 2tds equals ??
20 of 33 for 233 yards and 2tds equals ??

Does Sanchez not deserve part of the blame for leading his Offense to 0 points in the second half of the 09 Indy game? Does he not deserve part of the blame for leading his offense to 0 points in the the first half of the 10 Pitt game?

Are you trying to compare the Patriots defense with the Steelers' defense of last year? The defense that only gave up 14 ppg? Sanchez's 102.2 rating in that game was the 3rd best game a QB played against the Steelers last year. Brady had the best at 117.4 and Rodgers the 2nd best at 111.5.

The year before, Sanchez was a rookie QB playing on the road in the AFC Championship Game. He was a rookie that had only started for one year in college, yet was now playing in the 2nd biggest NFL game of the year. Henne has never, not even once, experienced that kind of pressure.

You've made the absurd implication that the first game of the season and the conference championship game are comparable. If Chad Henne had put up those numbers in a playoff game, or even a late regular season "win and you're in" game, I'd give him more credit.

Every game is different, leading your eam to 17 pts and never leading then trailing by 21 pts before garbage time is bad. Sanchez was a ROOKIE at Indy on the road, slightly different circumstances than week 1 at HOME.

Against Pitt 17 pts kept us in the game until the end, if the D gives us one more chance we could have won that game. If Miami's D made a stop on their last drive you still trail by 14-21 pts and have no chance.

Sanchez led the O to 3 pts in the 1st half of the Pitt title game, Pitt's O set the tone ravaging our D and controlling the clock from the opening drive. Our O could never get into ryhthm b/c of how poorly our D played.

Keep making excuses and deflecting. You don't get to back to back title games w/o quality QB play.

I'm not comparing the two situation. I only brought up Henne's stats to bring up the point that many Jet fans have said it is not about stats, it is about winning. Though Sanchez had a good stat line in both of the AFCC games, he did not make enough plays to win. I am not the one making the excuses. Just read the 2 post above me if you want excuses. It was the Jets defense that did not allow the Jets offense to get into rhythm? You don't think going down 24-0 had anything to do with the Pitt D allowing 17 point to the Jets in the 2nd half? How about the Indy game? It was the exact opposite. 14 points in the first half, but 0 in the second. Sanchez has not shown that he can carry the team on his own in the playoffs.

The way the Jets got to the AFCC game 2 years in a row is with the defense and a very good running game. When either of those faulter, the Jets do not win.

He didn't make enough plays to win but he was a rookie and 2d yr QB on the road in the title game, comparing that to a season opener at home is a little silly.

Absolutely, Pitt's O ran it down our throats and held the ball 7-8 mins while scoring a TD. That was deflating off the bat. We also couldn't run the ball so we couldn't control the clock, in the 2nd half Mark brough us back through the air and if our D could have made one stop late would have had a chance to win.

Again, I am not comparing the season opener to an AFCC game. Just good stats in a loss. Sanchez deserves his fair share of credit for those losses. You are the one that does not like excuses, so why do you keep making them? Yes, the defense did not play well, and yes the running game did not play well, but neither did Sanchez. He was part of putting them in that 24-0 hole in the first half.

Sanchez has never won a playoff game while throwing for 200 yards. If the running game does not produce 120 plus yards, Sanchez does not win in the playoffs.

Mark is way down on the list of reasons we lost those title games.

I think most QBs are helped out by a good ground game, did you take that 120 # b/c of the NE game? We had much less than 120 when that game was in hand and Brady's Pats had 113 rush yds- is 113 not enough? Sanchez has yet to have a bad playoff game.

I took the 120 # from the NE game because that was the lowest rushing total for the Jets in a playoff win with Sanchez at QB. Most Qbs are helped out by a running game, but Sanchez has been carried by it. Look at the rushing numbers compared to the passing numbers in the Jets playoff wins.

@ Cincinnati - 182 yards passing - 171 yards rushing.

@ San Diego - 93 yards passing - 169 yards rushing.

@ Indy 184 yards passing - 169 yards rushing.

@ NE 194 yards passing - 120 yards rushing.

Every one of those games we made big plays throuhg the air. Stats don't tell the whole story. W/o Sanchez playing as well as he did we wouldn't have won probably 3 of those 4 games.
