LB D'Qwell Jackson visiting Dolphins tonight

wheeler can rush the QB on 3rd and long - otherwise he can play STs and earn more reps

That's what I have been saying. You are going to pay him no matter what so at least keep him on the roster and try to use him where he could be helpful.

If the Dolphins want to add one of NFL's most underrated leaders to their locker room, they won't let D'Qwell Jackson (@DQ52) leave today

That would be a nice signing imo, but it sounds like its going to require an overpayment. LBs are the worst unit after OL and we desperately need help in the LB unit, especially if we let Starks and Soliai walk.

Sounds like a good signing, depending on money, but, i would not cut Wheeler (makes no sense). I would just let Coyle work it out in competition.

DOLPHINS PURSUE JACKSON (from Barry Jackson)

The Dolphins’ decision to bring in former Cleveland starting inside linebacker D’Qwell Jackson for a visit on Tuesday suggests what many have suspected --– that new GM Dennis Hickey isn’t completely thrilled with Jeff Ireland’s overhaul of the linebacker crew last season.

But it also speaks to Hickey’s admiration for Jackson, according to a league source.

The Dolphins like Jackson not only for his ability, but also for his leadership --- something Miami is trying to address after last year’s locker-room scandal. He was a respected and vocal leader in Cleveland, and this locker-room needs that.

When Cleveland cut him last month, general manager Ray Farmer called him “the epitome of class, leadership and professionalism.”

Hickey has tap-danced around questions concerning both Philip Wheeler and Dannell Ellerbe, but keep in mind that both have guaranteed salaries next season, Ellerbe at $6 million and Wheeler at $5 million. There’s a big cap hit cutting both.

So it’s not out of the question Miami could keep Wheeler and Ellerbe for now, even if they sign Jackson or another starting-caliber linebacker. And Miami repeatedly has said how much it values Koa Misi, who is also under contract. Misi is Miami's best linebacker against the run and isn't expensive ($1.7 base salary in 2014).

He's visiting other teams so it's definitely not a done deal but at least they are looking to upgrade at LB.

Why would Jackson pick us over Denver or Indy? lol

The Miami Herald reports free agent ILB D'Qwell Jackson will sign with one of the four teams he's visited.
That's the Dolphins, Colts, Broncos and Titans. Indy is getting the last crack after Jackson visited Miami on Monday. The Herald reported Monday that Jackson was "very intrigued" by the Dolphins, but his intrigue wasn't enough to sign on the dotted line without first giving the Colts a looksee. The fact that Jackson won't take any more visits is a sign he'd like to have a new home before teams can start talking with all free agents on Saturday.

Just a hunch, but I get feeling LB D'Qwell Jackson will chose between #colts and Titans. I'll deny that if he signs with Broncos.

If these are your options? Why in the world would you sign with the Titans? This is of-course assuming the money is the same.
