you can't blame this one on marty... he did everything he could do.

if kaeding had made that FG, they would have won and marty would be a genius.... everything that needed to be done from a coaching standpoint was done.

No everything wasn't done, when you have a rookie kicker you need to get him as close as possible not just 40 yards and then 3 useless running plays that get nothing. He's a rookie in the playoffs you have to do your best to make it easier for him. that strategy would have worked fine with a veteran kicker but as you saw it was not enough for the rookie on a wet field.
