Explain 2016 and ranking #2 in penalties .

I think they're pointing to Pouncey starting all 16 games as a success. He graded out fine in pass blocking but he wasn't nearly as effective pulling and getting to the second level on runs. There were also some curious communications issues in the middle, but it's hard to assign blame without knowing what the line calls are and who was actually missing the calls. Across the board, our guys seemed to be fooled by stunts, twists, and delayed blitzes.

Penalties were so painful last year, they seemed to come at the worst possible time. Oline was by far the worst issue, ONCE AGAIN. QB was a ****ing joke. I actually thought Cutler might be ok with Gase at the helm, but man was I wrong.

did we lead the league in pre snap penalties???

We were tied for 4th in pre snap offensive penalties
but #1 in total offensive penalties with 65, more than twice as many as the Ravens
5th in defensive penalties with 56, The Pats had 30
22nd in special teams penalties with 16, the Vikings led the league with 11

We ended up with 137 penalties or
52 more than the least amount of penalized team in the NFL
Carolina Panthers
