MIAMI Marlins Sign Closer Heath Bell

No more Leo Nunez experience? Marlins 9th innings just got a lot less exciting.

If the Marlins can somehow land a big bat, they are in business. Pujols and Fielder are pipe dreams for them, but Ramirez would help tremendously and hes affordable. Under 15 mil/year for 3 or 4 years would be my guess.

God it only took like 5 years to get rid of Leo . . . Dude had average to below average stuff the entire time he was here. I bought into the hype after the first year (that and the fact that Kevin Gregg was an even worse closer) . . . but after a while it was the same story with this guy.

Great signing and sending a message to the rest of the haters and non-believers - The Marlins plan to contend in 2012 and beyond - get ready beyotches !

That's a lot for a closer, but hopefully with signing Heath Bell will convince some of the other FA's the Marlins have talked with to join the ranks as well. Reyes, and Cespedes hopefully will be the next two to sign.
