When the team came out for Week 1 in 1970 with two obscure rookies starting at the OLB spots, It seemed amazing to me. We had 12th-rounder Kolen on one side and UDFA Doug Swift on the other, with the wise old veteran Buoniconti between them. Swift had to split his starts though with veteran Ted Davis who 6 years prior had been a 1st round pick by San Diego. Kolen on the other hand never left the starting lineup.
