This team does need a viable 3rd WR option because the offense broke down badly last year when Hill and or Waddle missed games.
Can you elaborate on why you think that's the case?
Hill missed 1 game and in that game Tua had a 119 rating, completed 87% and we put up 30 points.
Waddle missed the 70-point Denver affair. That doesn't support your assertion either.
Waddle missed the final 2 games. Okay, you can certainly make the argument he might've made some difference against Buffalo but that's 1 game and you're not going to have everyone healthy all the time. In fact, Waddle came back against KC in the Playoffs and the offense still sucked for basically the same reason(s) as they did against BAL and BUF in the two weeks immediately prior when he sat out.
So there's basically no correlation between Waddle/Hill missing time and the offensive output.
Furthermore, Miami collapsed in 2022 as well and again, they had Hill & Waddle both playing in the losses to SF, LA, BUF and GB that closed out Tua's season.
The offense was just inefficient in the first two losses (SF & LA). For example, in those two games Waddle combined for 3 catches and 40 yards on 9 targets. Hill put up good numbers in all 4 games TBH.
My point is that it's not for a lack of weapons that we've failed. This narrative needs to die which is the original point of my starting the thread. We're seeing something and imagining something else.
We know darn well that simply plugging in what we think are "better" WRs is not going to resolve our issue because we've already tried it. Everyone thought Berrios was going to be a huge upgrade and it did very little because we didn't throw to either him or Cedrick Wilson unless we absolutely had to. Both players produced twice as much with their prior teams than with our "prolific" offense. Think about that.
What needs to change is how the offense operates at a more fundamental level so we do spread the ball around more.
Iff we do add something in terms of weaponry it very obviously needs to be at TE1 where we've been declining since Gesicki left and even he wasn't very good compared to the best TEs around the NFL if we're being honest.
