Multiple sources told the Sun Sentinel in late January that Porter had waved off third-down substitutes so he could stay on the field for as many sack opportunities as possible. He denigrated several teammates, including Taylor, with a comment to WQAM that he was still the team's best outside linebacker.

"It's not even an argument," Porter said on Feb. 2. "I'm the best one we got. Period. Why should I be switching out with any of them guys? … If you want to put Cameron Wake and them in the game, go ahead and good luck to you."
