Williams' potential future
The potential future market for Williams' memorabilia is still a toss-up, industry experts said. Only time will tell whether it's a collector's item or junk.
''The fact that he's no longer visible makes him a lot less valuable,'' said Mike May, spokesman for the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association of North Palm Beach. ``At 27, he still had so much more to prove.''
But because of his youth, there's a chance Williams could decide in a year or two to return to football. It's something we've seen from other sports stars like Michael Jordan or Mario Lemieux.
''Hold on to those jerseys,'' May said. ``Never say never. He did a lot in a short time, and he could still come back and do a lot more.''
